Written by Tom Glazer. I'll add more once I delete the duplicates.
-Joe Offer-
On top of spaghetti,
All covered with cheese.
I lost my first meatball,
When somebody sneezed.
It rolled off the table
And onto the floor
and now my poor meatball
It ain't there no more.
Or, at least, that's how my obnoxious sister sang it...

If you put the word spaghetti in our blue search box, you'll get the complete lyric - or you can Click here.
But I still think my sister was obnoxious.

Here are the lyrics from the Digital Tradition Folk Song Database. not my sister - but I still think they're obnoxious:

ON TOP OF SPAGHETTI
(Tom Glaser)

On top of spagetti all covered with cheese
I lost my poor meatball when somebody sneezed

It rolled off the table, it rolled on the floor
And then my poor meatball rolled out of the door

It rolled in the garden and under a bush
And then my poor meatball was nothing but mush.

The mush was as tasty as tasty could be,
And early next summer it grew to a tree.

The tree was all covered with beautiful moss
It grew great big meatballs and tomato sauce.

So if you eat spaghetti all covered with cheese,
Hold on to your meatball and don't ever sneeze.

Speaking of Tom Glazer, did anyone out there have his record that included "How many colors are in the rainbow"? I used to play it all the time when I was a kid. (It may have been the only record that was mine that we had around) Wish I knew where it was. I think my youngest would enjoy it. They were his type of songs.

When I was a kid one of the songs we sang was

On top of Old Smoky, all covered with sand,
I shot Premier Khrushchev with a blue rubber band.
I shot him with pleasure, I shot him with pride.
I couldn't have missed him - he's 40 feet wide.

Second verse: change rubber band color and shoot Fidel Castro.

If I'd been a few years younger I'm sure I'd have learned to shoot Ho Chi Minh...

I thought you were on about the famous song that goes like this:

I know a song that gets your nerves and it goes like this.
Yes I know a song that gets on your nerves and it goes like this.
Oh I know a song that gets on your nerves and it goes like this.
I know a song that gets on your nerves and it goes like this.
I know a song that gets on your nerves and it goes like this.
I know a song that gets on your nerves and it goes like this.
e.t.c (go on forever or until someone kills you )/ul>
But clearly I see now that you weren't on about the song that gets on your nerves and goes like this !

OK, so back in 2000, I said very definitively that this song was written by Tom Glazer. But how do we KNOW that it was written by Tom Glazer? Can anybody come up with evidence?
America wants to know.....
It's not always definitive, but the Harry Fox Agency songfile.com utility is a reasonably good resource. It has this listed as HFA song code 040800, written by Tom Glazer. Publisher is Larry Spier Music LLC OBO Songs Music, Inc. It's represented by Harry Fox Agency, so you can get a recording license from them if you decide to record a hit CD. Cost is about 8 cents a copy, with a 500-copy minimum.
Another favorite resource, allmusic.com, says this was the title song for a 1963 album by Tom Glazer and the Do-Re-Mi Children's Chorus.

-Joe, not so certain of things as he was in 2000-

Yes, it's Tom Glazer's song. He told me he was inspired by hearing children sing "On top of old Khrushchev..." to the tune of "On Top of Old Smokey," of course.
