I sang this on Paltalk a night or two ago, and got a request that it be posted - from a lady whose s.o. is evidently a hardcore Chevy believer....

Peter.

RUSTY CHEVROLET

Lyrics: Da Yoopers.
Melody: "Jingle Bells"

Dashing through the snow, in my rusty Chevrolet,
Down the road I go, sliding all the way.
I need new piston rings, I need some new snow tires;
My car is held together by a piece of chicken wire.

(Chorus):

Oh, rust and smoke, the heater's broke, the door just blew away.
I light a match to see the dash, and then I start to pray.
The frame is bent, the muffler went, the radio, it's o.k.
Oh, what fun it is to drive this rusty Chevrolet.

I went to the IGA to get some Christmas cheer.
I just passed my left front tire and it's getting hard to steer.
Skidding down the road, spinning like a top.
I had to drag my Timberlands* to get the car to stop.

(Chorus)

Bouncing through the snowdrifts in big blue cloud of smoke,
People laugh as I drive by; I wonder, "What's the joke?"
I got to get to town, to pick up the layaway
'Cause Santa Clause is coming soon in his big old rusty sleigh.

(Chorus)

*Da Yoopers sing "swampers." We used "Timberlands" because it made more sense to Vermonters, and fit the meter better. Usual disclaimers.

That was me married to a "Chevy Man." Thanks Peter, I'll get some "mileage" out of this one.

Silly me, I didn't realize he was so prejudiced until a coworker pointed it out to me. Then one day when I was shopping for a new car, I noticed Hubby always stood next to the Chevies, didn't really want to unduly influence me or anything.
