I think both of them were quite boring, especial the Jackie Brown-movie. Pulp Fiction only had a little bit of excitement, becuase you never knew when a guy suddenly start to shoot against another. But every horror-film can make that kind of "excitement". This "look-the-same-scenes-from another view" that Tarantino obviously like, is a good ide, but its not enough to make the "Jackie Brown"-movie interesting. I think "True Romance" with Christian Slater(?) was much better. And "Things to do in Denver when you are dead" was also better, altough it was a little boring in the start. |

Indulgent, self-referential, self-congratulatory, pseudo-hip mishmash of attitudinal dialogue supported by more name actors than any director but Woody Allen should need to carry a picture. True Romance had that one great line in it where Brad Pitt, the stoner on the couch, said, "Don't condensend (sic) to me, motherfucker." That's all I remember. Reservoir Dogs was a breath of fresh, but bloody air. Pulp Fiction did more to glamorize heroin use than any ten movies I can think of, but it was original, at least. |

Apparently one of her granddaughter's was involved with him and she (June) has (to put it mildly) a very bad opinion of the man. It's on a CD entitled "press on" (lower case intentional), cut number 11, called Tiffany Anastasia Lowe. - 1999 Risk Records, RSK4107. I got the CD for a song she does with Johnny called Far Side Banks of Jordan. The CD has some pretty good people on it, including Marty Stuart, Johnny Cash, Norman Blake, Rodney Crowell.

Usually I feel I could have written the plot of a movie, but not with Quentin. Owning a video store has given me the opportunity to see all of his movies. The variety of subjects amazes me. Like Dusk til Dawn. One of my favorite vampire type movies. I was not surprised when I found out it was his. Same with Desperado with Bandares. Different and exciting. By the way, I wasn't crazy about Jackie Brown the first time I saw it, but I watched it again and found I actually enjoyed it. Maybe when you know the plot and you know what's actually going on, the movie is much more interesting. When I open my store, I plan on having a "Quentin Tarantino" section. Love, annamill |

Also, the zany "did she od, omigod, how can we revive her" scene, played more or less for laughs, but with a message attached, (don't do this-it's not good) or the a scene w/ Eric Stoltz the dealer where they discuss price vs the unparalleled quality of the high. I'm pretty sure this was the same movie you saw. Anyway, it was an offhand comment. I'm not the movie police. The famed director's intention may not have been to glamorize it, but the effect is a rippling effect that is beyond his control. I know this: kids watch that movie and think nothing of it. heroin, ecstasy, pot, rufies, cocaine, whatever, there's not a lot of discrimination involved. (hey, it's all good) am I so wrong? |
