YET MORE DON'T POST TO THIS THREAD - II

Subject: YET MORE DON'T POST TO THIS THREAD - II
From: hesperis

Since the LATEST thread in this series is now over 100, here is the sequel.

Have your silly arguments with GUEST's. Post your silly references to posts of any kind. Limericks, silly poems, puns, and stuff about hamsters (NOT "hampsters"!!!) are welcome.

Have a COMPLETE lack of good taste, constraint, and self-control.

Go at it. Be that way. See if I care!

~*sirepseh*~

Oh yeah, and here's the previous one!

Don't worry, Hesp, it's usually months between purgings of my web page, if not years. I have to have some really big project I really don't want to do before I go and spend that much time looking through my archives to determine what is or isn't used in my site.

Speaking of which I need to go change the copyright dates on all my pages. Bleh.

Okay, I give up...which one is the real chimp?

Ha! Ha! Ha!

I think we've discovered the missing link at last.

I am back from an enjoyable visit to see musical friends Jen & Eric play at the Tranzac Club in Toronto, evening hosted by folk legend Norm Hacking, with a surprise appearance by Bob Snider (who is hilarious) and one of the guys from The Arrogant Worms (equally hilarious, if not more so...). A great set by Glen Hornblast too!

I also got to do 2 of my songs, and there were about 10 other acts. What a night!

Jen & Eric were great as always...they call their act Like Water, which means free-flowing and adaptable, I guess...

Nice to be back on the Cat...(no smart cracks, Spaw!!!)

- LH

p.s. Matt - The "Hamp" was actually the A6M3 version, with clipped wings (to improve the rate of roll). They simply removed the folding wingtips normally used for carrier operations, and faired over the shortened wings on the ends, resulting in a shorter wingspan and an increased roll rate, with some reduction in other performance features. The Hamp was seen in all schemes... light grey/with black cowling (early scheme), dappled green blotches over grey, and solid green upper surfaces too, with the yellow leading edge recognition markings. It looks kind of odd with the clipped wings, and they later went back to the round wingtips, thankfully.

LUSTY YOUNG SMITH

A lusty young smith at his vise stood a filing,
His hammer laid by but his forge still aglow,
When to him a buxom young damsel came smiling
and asked if to work at her forge he would go.
With a jingle, bang jingle, bang jingle, bang jingle,
With a jingle, bang jingle, bang jingle, hi ho!
"I will," said the smith, and they went off together
Along to the young damsel's forge they did go,
They stripped to go to it, 'twas hot work and hot weather;
She kindled a fire and she soon made him blow.

Chorus

Her Husband, she said, no good work could afford her;
His strength and his tools were worn out long ago.
The smith said, "Well mine are in very good order,
And now I am ready my skill for to show

Chorus

Red hot grew his iron, as both did desire
and he was to wise not to strike while 'twas so.
Quoth she, "What I get, I get out of the fire,
Then prithee, strike hard and redouble the blow."

Chorus

Six times did his iron, by vigorous heating
Grow soft in the forge in a minute or so,
And often was hardened, still beating and beating,
But each time it softened it hardened more slow.

Chorus

The smith then would go; quoth the dame, full of sorrow,
"Oh, what would I give, could my husband do so!
Good lad, with your hammer come hither tomorrow
But, pray, can't you use it one more, ere you go?"

Chorus

So, what happened to the LIMERICKS?

There was a young maid from Marete,
Who got very skilled with her feet.
But so sad to say,
When they're running away,
Nice men are just too hard to meet.

LOL!

Subject: RE: YET MORE DON'T POST TO THIS THREAD - II
From: CarolC

hesperis, your limerick reminds me of another young maid who was very skilled with feet... not her own, though...

THE ROBBER GIRL

Come listen a while and I'll tell you a story
of three merry gentlemen riding along
They met a fair maiden and unto her did say,
"We're afraid this cold morning might
do you some harm."

"Oh no, kind sir," said the maid, "you're mistaken
to think this cold morning might do me some harm.
Yet there is one thing I crave,
and it lies twixt your legs sir
if you give me that it will keep me warm."

"Oh since you do crave it, my dear you shall have it,
if you'll come with me under yonder green tree.
oh since you do crave it, my dear you shall have it,
I'll make these two gentlemen witness to thee."

The gentleman lighted and straight way she mounted,
and looking the gentlemen hard in the face,
said, "ye knew not my meaning,
you wrong understood me."
and away she went galloping down the long lane.

"Come gentleman lend me one of your horses,
that I might ride after her down the long lane.
If I over-take her, I warrant I'll make her
return unto me my own horse again."

This young maid was watching,
she saw them a-coming,
She instantly then took her pistol in hand,
said, "doubt not my skill,
or it's you I shall kill
and I'll have you stand back
or you are a dead man."

"Oh why do you spend all your time here in talking,
oh why do you spend all of your time here in vain?
Come give her a penny, it's what she deserves,
and I warrant she'll give you your horse back again."

"Oh no, kind sir," said the maid, you're mistaken,
for if it's his loss than it is my gain,
and you are a witness that he gave it to me."
And away she went galloping over the plain.

I think that Tony Blair is a Traitor to the Labour Party movement, when he and his friends in power, have just took on the Tories policies and just kept them.

Myself and the s.n.p. want a free Scotland, we don't Westminster telling us the poeple of Scotland what to do in our own Country.

For years Westminster have been telling us that the Scots are to Poor and Stupid when it comes to Freedom, however they are the ones who take Scottish Oil, Scottish Fishing and anything else that's Scottish, and we in Scotland doesn't get a penny from them. It's us The Scots who keep Westminster in Power.

That's why they won't let Scotland go, Scotland is the one of the Richest countries in the world and yet her people never get to share the wealth.

So I can't wait until our day will come when we can throw off the Westminster yoke once and for all. And that goes for all the other unionist parties as well.

The more it snows, tiddley-pom
The more it goes, tiddley-pom
The more it goes, tiddley-pom...on snowing

Nobody knows, tiddley-pom
How cold my toes, tiddley-pom
How cold my toes, tiddley-pom...are growing

Hmmm. WYSIWYG said she posted a limerick... but I can't find it. And I can't process her non-application without it. Somebody help me out here?

Hesp.. Maybe it would help to remind us all exactly what a limerick *is*. ::grin:: (hopefully that'll give me time to think one up.)

Okay... testing the waters here

There once was a forum called Mudcat where musical types there and all that delighted themselves without help from elves with a sharp wit and charm no-one scorned at

I'm a mite rusty... anyone want to add to this one and keep it going? could be... interesting!

I like it, though. It's cute, even if it isn't ribald enough...

A poster named Shard said he'd come
Which some found exceedingly dumb
While some found him spastic
Others thought him orgiastic
But Spaw started gently to hum.

Hmmm.

An Orillia boy, friend of our Hesperis
just couldn't decide on which vest were his
He tried 'em all on
but the one he did don
had a split from the waist to the wotsis

He put them all back in the drawer
'cept one that just fell to the floor
"Say! This one is mine!"
And his eyes they did shine
A musician who knew well the score!

MT - good one!

Jande - change it to "man" instead of "boy" and it'll be about someone who's actually IN Orillia, ok? I don't know any "boys" here, unless you count flattop. (But you don't know flattop, do you?)

CarolC took the train to Orillia
so she'd have stuff to say that would thrillya
Spaw sulked and farted
once she'd departed,
a curmudgeon whose emissions could killya

What is wrong with you people? Don't you realize you're not supposed to post to this thread? Let the dang thing die in peace, I say, or else shoot the critter! That's what the Duke would've done. Why, if there were more MEN like him alive these days, by God, we'd never have had Clinton in the White House! I just hope Dubya restores the honor of AY-Merica!

This is a MAN speakin' atcha here, not a boy!

Attaboy, LH. You tell 'em.

Best way to make a thread die is to post to the thread asking people not to post to the thread. Discuss.

Please accept this and the previous rusty limericks as my application to the non-clique?

Our non-clique is very prestigious and persnickety, and severely restricts its membership to a chosen few, I hope you realize...

The folks in Orillia are gracious
Thier hearts are exceedingly spacious
They're funny and smart
(With ne'er a stray fart)
And they always sound very loquacious

(Help! My dictionary's in the U.S. and I'm in Canada. I can't remember how to spell loquacious!)

and why did "Killing the Thread" disappear?!

.... the mystery continues.
