26 Jan 01 - 01:43 PM (#383178) Subject: HOBER Radio plays Mudcatters From: katlaughing In case you don't know about Hober Radio, please click here for a Real Audio link. I am just curious how many of us listen to it and how many Mudcatters we hear on there. Sourdough posted hearing Rick Fielding recently. I just had the pleasure of hearing our own Art Thieme doing In & Around Nashville, from his CD, "The Older I Get, the Better I Was." What a pleasure. So, how about, we use this thread to report when we do hear one of our own on there? Great music!! Thanks, kat |

22 Mar 02 - 01:40 PM (#674134) Subject: RE: HOBER Radio plays Mudcatters From: katlaughing Well, since I started this thread, Hober has been pretty consistent about playing Kendall's stuff. Just thought I'd do an update. The past two days I've been listening all day long. I am working on jewellry, so my back is to the computer, so, I cannot immediately see who is up next on the playlist. My ears are tuned in even more then and it has been a pleasure. In the past two days I have heard Art Thieme, Rick Fielding, Seamus Kennedy, Kendall Morse, all Mudcatters! Also have heard Utah Philips, Boarding Party and many other great ones. If you haven't sent them your CD's I would strongly urge you to do so. This station has the most open, eclectic mix I've ever heard and NO Talking, except an ID once in awhile! if you've never tuned in, give it a try! Sounding good fellahs! luvyakat |

23 Mar 02 - 10:44 AM (#674756) Subject: RE: HOBER Radio plays Mudcatters From: InOBU I just found the address... but if others need it, one can get them using Hober Radio as a search term... silly me.... Cheers again, Larry |
23 Mar 02 - 10:44 AM (#674758) Subject: RE: HOBER Radio plays Mudcatters From: DMcG I've justed searched for RENRadio and the site RealAudio found doesn't seem to be transmitting. Can someone post a link? |
23 Mar 02 - 10:45 AM (#674759) Subject: RE: HOBER Radio plays Mudcatters From: katlaughing Thanks, again, everyone. Larry, if you go to www.hober.com there are email links which you could use to write to them and ask. I looked around, but couldn't find an addy for sending stuff in; I know folks have, though, so maybe you just have to email, first. I do know they are situated outside Washington, D.C. and that they do live shows, with a live audiences, sometimes, too, which have been just great. Good luck, kat |
23 Mar 02 - 02:24 PM (#674901) Subject: RE: HOBER Radio plays Mudcatters From: Nathan in Texas I sent in our CD (Homemade Jam - Yesterday's Road) a year or so back and they put the one of the cuts, "Simple Gifts" into the rotation for a while. I haven't heard it lately, but I don't get to listen very often. |
24 Mar 02 - 01:04 AM (#675224) Subject: RE: HOBER Radio plays Mudcatters From: artbrooks Try this for RenRadio: RenRadio Sometimes the free RealAudio player doesn't work, for no known reason. Live365 (which is where this link gets you) is worth some browsing, if you have time on your hands. |
24 Mar 02 - 01:13 AM (#675226) Subject: RE: HOBER Radio plays Mudcatters From: katlaughing Thanks, art. nathan, good to see you! It's been ages. I didn't know the name of your band. Now that I do, I will listen for you. Thanks for letting us know! kat |
24 Mar 02 - 02:40 AM (#675236) Subject: RE: HOBER Radio plays Mudcatters From: John P I'm listening now. Great stuff. I'll have to send them some CDs. Thanks for the pointer, Kat! John Peekstok |
09 May 02 - 11:34 AM (#707422) Subject: RE: HOBER Radio plays Mudcatters From: katlaughing Just heard Woodchuck's Revenge on there! Sounded great! |
09 May 02 - 12:29 PM (#707446) Subject: RE: HOBER Radio plays Mudcatters From: jeffp kat, thanks for refreshing this. I just got a new PC at work which includes RealAudio and Windows MediaPlayer. At last I can hear internet radio! I'm listening to Hober right now and loving it. jeffp |
09 May 02 - 12:46 PM (#707463) Subject: RE: HOBER Radio plays Mudcatters From: Midchuck Kat, what'd they play? P. |
09 May 02 - 12:49 PM (#707466) Subject: RE: HOBER Radio plays Mudcatters From: katlaughing Well, I came in near the tail end and by the time i got the window up, all I saw was the band name, but I think it was something about a squishy bug and it was a woman's voice at the end. Does that help?*bg* What I heard was great! jeff, welcome, isn't it great? Love Hober! |
09 May 02 - 12:52 PM (#707470) Subject: RE: HOBER Radio plays Mudcatters From: MMario it was yucky bugs and I missed it! |
09 May 02 - 01:01 PM (#707480) Subject: RE: HOBER Radio plays Mudcatters From: Fortunato So my question is: Do the artists being aired receive royalties? Should my pal from the Boarding Party expect a check for $.27? |
09 May 02 - 02:05 PM (#707515) Subject: RE: HOBER Radio plays Mudcatters From: katlaughing Fortunato, I think it is probably like Mudacat radio and most other stations, in that they pay a fee to ASCAP and BMI and they sort it out, which doesn't really help much, does it?:-) I'll be listening for their music, though! |
09 May 02 - 08:12 PM (#707767) Subject: RE: HOBER Radio plays Mudcatters From: Midchuck I think it was something about a squishy bug and it was a woman's voice at the end. Finally, after 50 years waiting for just the right straight line......
That was no woman, that was my wife! |
24 May 02 - 01:46 PM (#716871) Subject: RE: HOBER Radio plays Mudcatters From: katlaughing LOL, Midchuck! Just listening to our own Rick Fielding doing a fantastic job with Alouette Le Bastringue from his Lifeline CD. I never get tired of hearing this one, esp. Now, I'm going to have to get out the liner notes of my copy to see who it was did the fiddling. Grand job, all! |
23 Sep 02 - 01:23 PM (#789679) Subject: RE: HOBER Radio plays Mudcatters From: katlaughing Just heard a great song, really enjoyed it, enough to turn around and look at the display to see who it was (I was working off-computer at a nearby desk) ...lo and behold it was our own Woodchuck's Revenge doing Boxers and Socks! Love that line about not playing second-fiddle to an Eastern girl!*bg* |
23 Sep 02 - 08:09 PM (#789929) Subject: RE: HOBER Radio plays Mudcatters From: Midchuck Either they did two songs or they misscalled the title. Boxers and Socks is our Fox on the Run parody. The line about not playing second fiddle to an Eastern girl is from Wrangling Dudes. Muh littul gurl writ that! But I'm glad they're playing whatever they're playing. Peter. |
24 Sep 02 - 12:21 AM (#790046) Subject: RE: HOBER Radio plays Mudcatters From: katlaughing Is Wranglin' Dudes on a CD of the Boxers and Shorts variety by any chance? I just had a quick glance and B&S was what I saw BUT I really liked the one I heard which had to be WD. Tell yer darlin'gyrlchild she did good! |
24 Sep 02 - 12:25 PM (#790357) Subject: RE: HOBER Radio plays Mudcatters From: Midchuck Dudes and Boxers are adjacent cuts on the Fill One Room CD. Somebody just punched in the wrong number. Our notes on the album say: WRANGLING DUDES was written by Peter and Kris' daughter Andrea after working on dude ranches in Montana and Wyoming. You change their diapers; you lie awake the first time they're out past your bedtime; you go into hock for the tuition - and, if you're really lucky, you get to steal their songs... (lead vocal: Kristina) Peter. |

18 Oct 02 - 11:24 AM (#806110) Subject: RE: HOBER Radio plays Mudcatters From: katlaughing I've been trying to listen to the local stations, lately, so haven't had Hober on. How fitting that today, having it on for the first time in almost a month, the first thing I hear is Rick Fielding's Docherty's Jig Stairstep off his Lifeline CD. Sounded great, as always! |
18 Oct 02 - 01:24 PM (#806204) Subject: RE: HOBER Radio plays Mudcatters From: Amos And Wrangling Dudes will be on the first ever international Mudcat CD series, coming soon to a folk-community near you!! A |
18 Oct 02 - 02:28 PM (#806265) Subject: RE: HOBER Radio plays Mudcatters From: Justa Picker I mailed Hober a copy of my CD yesterday and also uploaded 1 of the tunes to them. We'll see if they'll play instrumental stuff. *g* |
08 Nov 02 - 05:35 PM (#821801) Subject: RE: HOBER Radio plays Mudcatters From: katlaughing I was wondering if you had done that, JP. They play a lot fo instrumental, so I am sure they will and I will make sure to request it AND report it, here!:-) Right now, I am listening to Pitman Blues on Rick's Lifeline CD. Sounds great! |
08 Nov 02 - 06:17 PM (#821819) Subject: RE: HOBER Radio plays Mudcatters From: katlaughing Seamus Kennedy is on right now Let the music take you home. Beautiful song! Oops, that's the name of the CD! The song is "Oro' Se' Do Bheatha 'Bhaile and The Rights." Sorry I don't have the right marks.:-) |
08 Nov 02 - 07:21 PM (#821869) Subject: RE: HOBER Radio plays Mudcatters From: reggie miles I just emailed these folks and they gave me the go ahead to send a submission in. They did mention though that they are backed up to the tune of about a hundred plus cds to give a once over listen to. I'm going to drop one to them today if I can get to the post office in time. |
26 Feb 03 - 04:57 PM (#899438) Subject: RE: HOBER Radio plays Mudcatters From: katlaughing Listening today, had it turned down low as I was on the phone. Then my ears perked up and I thought, "I know that voice!" Yes, indeed, it was Rick Fielding Singing Company Town! Wha-Hoo!! Sounded great! |
04 Mar 03 - 05:49 PM (#903523) Subject: RE: HOBER Radio plays Mudcatters From: katlaughing I love this! Heard Art Thieme's In & Around Nashville just a few minutes ago. I can tell that pickin' anywhere! |
14 Oct 03 - 12:08 PM (#1035411) Subject: RE: HOBER Radio plays Mudcatters From: katlaughing Just heard a beautiful cut, "Gordon's Farewell," off a CD entitled "Gatherings." The artist was "Gordon Bok and a Host of Maine Musicians." I'll bet our Kendall is on that one, too. It really was a gorgeous tune. |
14 Oct 03 - 01:28 PM (#1035462) Subject: RE: HOBER Radio plays Mudcatters From: kendall I was on his "Another Land made of water" but as a chorus singer. My Maine accent doesn't always work with Gordon's songs. No, I wasn't on Gatherings. |
14 Oct 03 - 02:21 PM (#1035514) Subject: RE: HOBER Radio plays Mudcatters From: katlaughing Oh shucks, I thought for sure you would be on there, Kendall. Still, I wouldn't want anything to happen to your *authentic* accent!:-) Just now I am listening to Woodchucks Revenge doing "Boxers and Socks." It is such a pretty song and, of course, they are great musicians! |
05 Oct 07 - 12:11 PM (#2164516) Subject: RE: HOBER Radio plays Mudcatters From: katlaughing Just heard Yucky Bugs by Woodchuck's Revenge! LMAO! Well done, folks! |
16 Jul 08 - 09:21 PM (#2391069) Subject: RE: HOBER Radio plays Mudcatters From: katlaughing Just listening to Stephen Lee Rich singing I've Had That Happen To Me. Sounds great, Stephen! |
