Oh, didn´t know that. The one I have in mind is preformed by the Dubliners on a live recording I heard on the radio. Do know any versions by the Dubliners?

Regards/Calle

The Dubliners are an exceelnet band. Dfinitely one of my favorites but give me a line or somethin' to get a jist of the song. If it's by the Dubliners it's got to be good. Check out the Heave Up Songs thread maybe someone will know in there, Heave up songs in my mind are basically sea shantys anyway, The Fenian.

It's one of my favorites - and a child ballad (#289)as well! I have a midi/lyrics and information on it at The Mermaid (http://www.contemplator.com/folk4/mermaid.html). There is probably more about it at Bruce Olsen's site.

The best version of the Mermaid is done by Makem & Clancy on their concert double lp. It has the fiddle playing the old sailor's hornpipe between each line of the chorus.
