I believe that Mr. Lindbergh's politic were reprehensible but that is in the past. He's been dead since the 1970's. I have always assumed that both AML and her husband must have been party to the lie, since the crime seems so obviously to have been rooted within the Lindberg household. Flirtation with the nazis was quite widespread, extending to members of the British royal family and many right-wing capitalists on both sides of the Atlantic. Even allowing for that, Lindberg seems to have been a deeply unpleasant individual. I would consider AML guilty by association except that from what little I've read about her I have just assumed she was wholly under Charles' spell. |
