In old cartoons, they used La C all the time - but they only ever sang the first four words - "La Cucaracha, la cucaracha," and then degenerated into "la la-la-la la-la-la" or some variation thereof. (Cassells Spanish Dictionary translates gasoline as "gasoleno" or "gasolina") My mother used the femenine form, and kept "fumar" (to smoke) as the verb, which can make sense if you stretch it a bit. |

Its downfall dates from the time the national HQ moved from New Jersey to the heart of the 'Bible Belt' in Texas and it has become increasingly bigoted, intolerant and fundagelical ever since. 'Tis a shame, too. |
