Starting a new 'Additions' thread, since Part VIII was getting a bit long. So, put your tracer on this one for the next little while to submit songs to or check for new ones in The Mudcat Songbook.

There's another song by our Amergin in the Songbook this morning. And it's to one of my favourite tunes, too. Everyone please take a look at Come Ye Back, My Love, and sing away. Great lyrics, Amergin!

Well, Aine, I do additional verses now and again, meself. For example, I like to get the sots singing along on "Molly Malone" about this time of year, but it's so short that it's over by the time they get really going on it. So I added a couple of verses...

These serve as verses 2 and 4:

I put one on another thread at the weekend -(Here's a link to it, to put in in context) I'd like it if it went in the Mudcat Songbook.

I wrote it a couple of years ago, when my wife's mother died. Last week (March 6th 2001)my brother Brian suddenly died over in Ireland, and I found myself remembering it as I walked up to his place, and I sang it in the pub after we buried him on Sunday. It seemed to fit him well.

I just sang the first two verses - the last one didn't seem necessary. (Maybe it might work better as a first verse, with the other two to follow.)

I've put it up on my website tonight, with chords, but no notes, - "Over the edge of the world".

The latest (and late) additions to the Songbook are Mary's Knocking Shop and Rosie Again, both by KingBrilliant. KB writes a dang fine lyric, and she's left the tunes up to you. Great job, and I hope we see more from this 'Catter. Thanks, KB!!

Jude - the Mudcat songbook are all originals from mudcatters that have been posted on the forum or sent in to share the lyrics. They range from the sublime to the ridiculous - and all sorts in between. Some may eventually go into the DT - (some HAVE gone into the DT already) but it is a seperate collection from the DT - much more mudcat forum oriented.

Then here's my offering. I don't know if it's the sort of song that goes in the book but it's mine and writing it helped me at the time.

HALF WRITTEN LETTER

Of my baby son growing ,

But the thing that cased changes,
The one final straw,
Was when I realised,
I couldn't find me anymore

By the way - forgive my dislexic typing, 5th line of the 2nd verse the word is supposed to be "caused" not cased. But at least I remembered the line breaks. Jude

For those of you who recall Aine's distress and delight at acquiring her new home the following little house warming gift will be understandable. It captures the important parts of the deal which may have been overlooked in the flurry of making minor adjustments to pipes and such:

And a wee postscript for my darlin' Amos --

There's always method in my madness (and madness in my method) and usually a grand excuse for my tardiness in 'bookkeeping' . . . The fellas who are supposed to fix the tile in the laundry room and bathroom have been here -- with their (bloody) jackhammers -- for the last two days, AND I've had Dear Hubby, suffering from an abcessed tooth (someone explain this 'man-thing' about not calling the oral surgeon two weeks ago when he was supposed to...), moaning, groaning, and needing to be waited on hand and foot (the poor sod) . . .

You know how much I love Moon On The Hill, 'cuz I told you so! It's in the Book now, so you can put down that brick that you hit me in the side of the head with . . . ;-)

Awwww!!! Exackly how I felt about it , truly, and thanks both of youse. Ain't nothing like a ton of love to make a song come out crisp and neat on the outside and warm and soft on the inside. Max has the .mp3 -- it has a nice tune, too. Tell Layne to hurry up and clean out that mouth of his and when he's got his choppers right again go buy him a big steak so he can remember what its like to be a carnivore!!!!
