Anybody around Vancouver or Vancouver island know where a double-ended "metal brush" tipper can be obtained?

You can get a double ended poly brush tipper from a musical mail order company called Lark In The Morning (I don't have the address handy but the tipper works pretty well on my 26"). Or you could order a drummers poly or metal brush from the Vader drum stick company. The one I have allows the brush to recede into the handle. I do not recommend the metal brushes as they leave marks (kind of like pencil marks) each time you strike the head (unless you've got a plastic head, which is what they're normally used on). Good luck!

Try The Bodhran Page at http://www.ceolas.org/instruments/bodhran/

There is a page there with lots of makers of all related.

Grasp the bodhran firmly by one edge. Then, slightly flex the wrist to tip.

Ask the Bodhrán a question.....any question..............

While I didn't believe the cow tipping thread I can well believe someone starting a bodhran tipping craze. How do you play it? Do you sneak up behind the bodhran and push it over?

We need to know these things...

If you consider the person holding the Bodhran to be technically part of the instrument then Bodhran tipping may or may not be desirable depending on the circumstances.

Well, in the 80s, Tipper did her damndest to destroy music in this country with the PMRC and all the mothers of prevention stuff. Just think how much damage she could have done if she had a bodhrán at the time. *bg* Glad she wasn't focused on traditional music. She might of accused the uilleann pipes of being drug paraphenalia.
