Can anyone help me with good agent contacts for the south east of england. As a returning ex-pat trad singer i have lost all contacts as such over the years and of course clubs won't book if they haven't heard a performer ....fair enough but many clubs are not even interested in listening to a c.d...is it worth getting an agent now??? any advice would be helpful. returning to the uk in May this year

Solo Singer,

All the UK mudcats are having fun in the "English National Anthem" thread, and may not have seen this, or paid particular attention, as your thread title doesn't say "UK" or "England" or "British" -- something would have called their attention to it. Suggest you go to that thread and ask your question, or just ask them to see this thread 'cause you need help.

Luck,

Sarah

It occurs to me that Stefan Grossman could probably provide you with a number of names of agencies that book folk and blues artists in England, since he's spent half of his life living there and maintains a home there. Try e-mailing him. He's usually pretty good about answering email, and should be able to make some recommendations.

Try Ashenden on Google.

try seaching for Bag Ends or Bagends music. They were based in Hampshire. failing that contact Dave Guest of the Grove Festival, he would have contacts and knows Bagends et al.
