I used to have an LP by King Pleasure, a jazz vocalist from the early fifties whose specialty was to put lyrics to jazz solos. He covered Charlie Parker, Coleman Hawkins and others, but my favorite is his version of James Moody's solo on "Mood for Love" IF I had the lyrics, I could sing this song to my wife, that is if I could possibly do the melody, which goes all over the place. Anyway, it is a great love song, I played on my radio show on Valentine's day and the phones went nuts. Anybody know it? Seth from China |

Is there anyplace else I could get it from? As.. I remember, "Moody's Mood For Love" is a duet with Blossom Dearie, a great but not very famous jazz singer. He also duets with a very young sounding Betty Carter on "Little Red Top" which is so wonderful. I snuck that song onto the tape of music for this aerobics class I was in. People really loved it, but they never get a chance to hear anything like that in the U.S. they are music collecting compulsive-obsessives like me. It would be really great if there were more duets with Mr Pleasure and other vocalists like Blossom Dearie and Betty Carter/ Can it be the case that they only recorded thses few songs together? ANyway, thanks for your help Seth from China |
