16 Apr 01 - 01:56 PM (#441802) Subject: Obscure folkgroups-MorningStar? From: ChaosCat I inherited a very beat up old bootleg tape from a friend, which was simply labeled "MorningStar". It was in horrible shape, and after I played it many times myself, the music can barely be distinguished any more. I want to replace it if I can, and possibly find more music by these people, but the only reference I've found to a band by that name is a christian group, whereas the material *I* have is all celto-british folk. Perhaps it's just the name of an album by some other band. Can anyone help me with this? Some of the songs included are: The Darby Ram, Do Ye Ken John Deal, and a great song about hounds, the name of which I have no clue, but the chorus goes There was dyed ol' bendigo, gentry she was there-oh, troubler, we never looked behind him, and there was countess, rover, bonnie lass and jover, these were the hounds that could find 'im... Help!

All I can imagine is that it was that originally, but that someone taped over it with something else, so I guess my only hope is to look for recordings of the individual songs, and hope that eventually I find the versions that were on the tape. Thanks for pointing out Gra' for me, though... I love discovering new bands I can enjoy! |
