16 Apr 01 - 08:01 PM (#442096) Subject: RE: From Skarpi Iceland.......... From: Little Neophyte So Skarpi, do you have a basement? I figure your house is build on permafrost foundations, right? I remember being in Dawson City BC and way back when they first established the town that was the biggest hurdle. How to build the houses on land that never really defrosted. Little Neo |
16 Apr 01 - 08:30 PM (#442112) Subject: RE: From Skarpi Iceland.......... From: Charley Noble Yes, the land here in Maine should thaw out in another month or two. We still have snowbanks around the north side of the house. However, the cats are all excited that the birds have come back, and can hardly wait to go out and play with them. If you know anyone who has one of those scruffy looking ponies, please feed him (the pony, of course) a carrot for me and scratch him around the ears. |

18 Apr 01 - 04:21 AM (#443236) Subject: RE: From Skarpi Iceland.......... From: GUEST,BlueJay Hi, Skarpi, nice to see you posting again. Sounds like your season is not much different than here in Colorado. The trees are greening here, birds are everwhere, and soon the bears will start knocking over my trash container. You are correct- now is the time to plan our gardens. My growing season is not all that long, and I suspect your's isn't either. Got to get those tomatoes in when it's warm enough, but not too late! Two of life's finest moments are to just keep on a-pickin' and a- weedin". Thanks, BlueJay |
