28 Apr 01 - 07:31 AM (#450968) Subject: Lyr Add: AR ÉIRINN NÍ NEOSFAINN CÉ HÍ From: Big Mick Aingeal, Aíne gets a little busy, so let me help out with this one. Aréir is mé ag téarnamh um neion ar an taobh thall den teora ina mbím do thaobhnaigh an spéirbhean i m' chombhair d'fhág taomanach breoite lag sinn. Do ghéilleas dá méin is dá cló dá bréithre 's dá beol tana binn. Do léimeas fá dhéin dul 'na comhair is ar Éirinn ní neosfainn cé hí. Dá ngéillfeadh an spéirbhean do m' ghlór agus ráite mo bheoil a bheith fíor go deimhin duit, go ndéanfainn do ghnó, do léirchur i gcóir is i gcríoch. Do léifinn fo léir stair do m' stor is ba mhéin liom í a phógadh ó m' chroi; do bhéarfainn an chraobh di gan ghó, is ar Éirinn ní neosfainn cé hí Tá spéirbhruinneal mhaorga dheas óg ar an taobh thall den teora ina mbím; tá féile agus daonnacht ina snó is deise agus meon ins an mhnaoi. Tá folt aici ar lasadh mar ór go cócánach ómarach bui; tá lasadh ina leacain mar rós is ar Éirinn ní neosfainn cé hí Enjoy the song. All the best, Mick |

29 Apr 01 - 08:41 PM (#451811) Subject: RE: Lyr Req: to Aìne From: Big Mick Aingeal, When requesting lyrics for a song it is always best to start a thread with the name in the title. Makes it a lot for the DT folks to find and put them in the database. Also makes it easier to find them when you are looking for them on a Supersearch. I transcribed the lyrics for Máire Mhór for you and put them HERE in a new thread. I did this AFTER I did a supersearch to make sure they were not already transcribed in a thread or the DT. If you are not sure how to do the search, please go to the quick links at the top of this page and read the one titled "forum search". Enjoy the song!! Mícheál Mhór |

30 Apr 01 - 09:19 PM (#452544) Subject: RE: Lyr Req: to Aìne From: Malcolm Douglas Actually, Aingeal/ Angelo, I pointed you to the wrong text; Antaine has posted another version of the song, Peigín 's Peadar, twice in the last year or so, which confused me. a search for pheigin would have found this thread: pheigin mo chroi - recorded by dervish, which contains a transcription (without translation) from the Dervish recording -presumably taken from the sleevenotes of their earlier album Playing With Fire. I searched to begin with for "peigin" because normally I wouldn't expect the form "pheigin" to appear in a song title unless preceded by, for example -as in the body of the song- "A"; that's the way Dervish have it, though, so maybe I have misunderstood the usage. Irish Gaelic is not my field... Malcolm Closed link and added title. --JoeClone
