Lyr Req: Soldier's Song

Looking for an Irish Song "Soldier's Song"

Starts:

Soldiers are we, He gave our hearts to Ireland.

Often sung in pubs in Gaelic.

I think it may be an unofficial anthem of Ireland.

Nothing unofficial about it - it IS the national anthem - officially in Gaelic.

are there local variations of the solider's song?

perhaps where the chorus or later verses include references to certain counties or locales?

No variations that I'm aware of.Not a particularly old song, mind you.

I think I stumbled onto it in Gaelic and English on the internet.
Go to Ceolas at Stanford Univ.
click on Tunes
click on Software
at Songs and Lyrics click on Irish National Anthem

You can look for the lyrics in this forum. Just set the filter for National Anthem and the Age for 365 days. You'll find the "real" Irish National Anthem in English and Gaelic.
