Have you told Mrs Duck?

12 May 01 - 04:51 AM (#460919)
Subject: Have you told Mrs Duck?
From: Tig

I was with Mrs Duck at the Jug last night and we were talking about next weekend and how many caravans, tents etc will be there.

There is only a limited amount of space on Syds field (tiny) and beergarden (even smaller!) so PLEASE let her know if and when you are coming and what sort of space you will need so we can fit the jigsaw together. The pony needs the field until Friday and that is where the caravans are supposed to be going!

Otherwise things are looking good.

Have emailed Mrs D. Will bring trailer tent but don't want to spend too much time there. Nah, I wont give the punch line. Sure you can figure it out....;-)

Thanks Tig I was about to post a similar thread myself. DON'T PANIC everyone if you have already said in the thread that you are coming that has been noted and manu people have sent me personal messages with space requirements regarding tents etc. We were in the garden last night and we reckon that the field will hold about seven vans down one side and another two possibly three on the gate side. We are tucking ourselves into a rocky corner of the beer garden on Wednesday night where we won't disturb anyone but as Tig said, the field will only be available from Friday as the pony is still using it until then! Larger trailer tents will probably be in the field with the vans and smaller ones in the beer garden. I will be in the pub, the sun will be in the sky, god will be in his heaven and all will be right with the world!
Yours not panicking at all
Jane

Jane,

Have a SUPERB time!

Wish I could be there!

I thought this was a thread for "Have you told Mrs. Duck about [gossip gossip gossip]?"!

Or, "Have you told Mrs. Duck how lovely she looks in the moonlight?"

So here's all the gossip: [pskdjdhf hjftyrt uhyytfg!]

And BTW, you look lovely in the moonlight!

On our way back from Holmfirth Folk festival (Luvverly!) we did a scenic detour via the Jug in order to ascertain certain key requirements for next week i.e. What's the beer like? and are the locals friendly? Very easy to find and the locals are very friendly. Had a good chat with the horse who is bloody put out about having to shift but I've promised him a Sam Pirt C.D. which will shut him up for a while. Hope the weather is glorious because I have managed to get a sunburn on one arm and not the other and need to even things out over the coming weekend.

Jingle and I (mandomad) are planning to call for a while on the Saturday, our first visit to the Jug. We won't be staying all night, so we will not need anywhere to kip. We look forward to meeting some Catters and perhaps a bit of a play, but we'll play it by ear. See you then. Tony and Angie.

I won't be needing anywhere to sleep, as it now looks as if I'll only be able to come for part of Saturday.

I thought Raggy Tash was coming, or is that only for the Saturday? It looks as though it should be fun. Don't forget your carryout jug if you are going to the ceilidh 'cos it's about a 10 minute walk to get another pint.

Sorry Bagpuss you had said you were coming but then said you thought it was a wedding that weekend. Look forward to seeing you on Sunday. Raggytash did say he might call in but nothing definite and I don't think he intended to stop over. If I've got that wrong Nick let me know.

Mrs Duck

My caravan is not shy and does not mind being squeezed up beside other caravans.

However the drivers skills are such that manhandling may be required for fine tuning the final position. Mrs Broons help in pushing other 'vans offered in return - and my help also.

Things are looking very exciting. Thanks for all your efforts. Cheers GB

Yes me and the Wombat are coming, together with the small evil one, (not that small anymore) but at this point have not discussed how when and where, probably just for the Saturday, much depends on the atitude of the Bank Manager, she who MUST be obeyed.

And where, Tash, are your apostrophes? Don't you know that I am a fully-paid-up Horseman of the Apostrophe?

Actually I needed to know if I was drafted in the Mudcat Ceilidh Band and if so on what instruments (etc) were needed. I don't have any mics or pa, but I could plug in on bass or bouzouki.

I still can't believe you did that Mrs.Duck. I think it must have been the highlite of moor and coast. Shame noone was stood outside the food tent to laugh at you doing it!!

Will Natasha be making an appearance this weekend?

Or does she think she'll hate me cos I know her mother?

Ickle Dorrit - were you at holmfirth? I still don't know who you are, but I was there. If you saw some strange lass in flowing purple skirts following Sam Pirt and Ian Stephenson around all weekend, well that was me. (I didn't know anyone, well a few people. But I was hiding from that Joey from 422, he scares me, he never smiles!!)

When can I pitch my tent in the beer garden Mrs.Duck? Friday morning?

I won't be able to make it on wednesday as I have to save my money for the drinking antics this weekend!!

Well this'll make 3 festivals in the space of the last three weeks, then it's hexham next weekend. Tyhen I think I've got a break till Beverley!!

Take care everyone.

Can't wait to meet you all!!

The line up at the moment is Bill on banjo, Ian Stephenson on guitar, Skipjack on accordeon and Noreen on keyboards. Anyone (even you Les!)is welcome to join the band-space permitting and I gather there is adequate amplification. I suggest that you have a word with Bill about what instruments are needed (bouzouki would be nice)

Ah, but Bill will be calling, Mrs Duck, for only the second time in his long career, so we need another banjo player! (Never thought I'd hear myself say such a thing...)

Les, I'd suggest you bring everything and see what happens! And if anyone else wants to take a turn on keyboards, feel free; I'm only the default player and anyway I'd like to have a dance too!

Noreen

Not in my wildest dreams could I describe this Barry Evans as the cute one!!! Tents in the beer garden anytime Friday Emma. Caravans seem to be breeding so one or two may have to go in the garden too but if we are using the whole field and don't mind getting cosy we should be ok. BTW cars will need to be parked in the car park or on the road as there will not be space on the field.
Thanks
Jane

Yes me dear - it's pretty darn good too Billy Bragg is on this year and the highlight last year for me was Boy Bailey and Tony Benn -it's the weekend of June 16th (?) starting Friday - Ray Padgett and Johnny Booker run the singaround in the Sun formerley Tap & Spile plus singing in Nellies and Musicians in the Tiger. Camping for weekend ticket holders price £45. Tickets can be obtained from Tourist Info. I shall be going and Les from Hull and Cavia P & Glevum are regulars so come along!
