02 Jun 01 - 12:18 PM (#475165) Subject: Tuning a guitar in Polish From: Dave the Gnome Long story short. Dad's cousin in Poland. Good mandolin player, apparantly, is learning to play guitar. Doesn't know how to tune it. Can anyone send me Polish instructions for performing said task? Would you please email me at dpolshaw@btinternet.com if there are any attachments or graphics. Hallo Lads, I am very Impressed, that the english-speaking guys know so much about our language. Polka indeed means "Polish Woman" but the word describing the dance has different roots. In fact, dance called polka came to Poland from Czech. Dance: "Polka" does not come from Polish Woman, but from "pole" - the Field. So, if you dance on the field, you dance Polka. Me and my Dad sorted it out between us - if anyone else wants the info I have it now! Out of interest, from what Dad says, it may not be easy to get the info so somply in Byelestok (Sp???) - or that easy to buy stuff like tuners either. They seem to be having it quite rough there.
