Seeking the lyrics to the Chorus of House of Bamboo, recorded by Earl Grant & recently covered by Southern Culture on the Skids. Extreme thanks to anyone who can help.

Yes, Dorrie. That's the song. I can't find the lyrics on the usual lyrics websites (running the title against Earl Grant, Andy Williams & Southern Culture on the Skids). I also checked the Earl Grant, Andy Williams & S.C.O.T.S. websites. I also searched for the composer & lyricist: William Crompton & Norman Murrels. I have a request in with a vintage music website for the sheet music, if they can find it. So far, I've come up empty. Most of the lyrics I can make out. It's just a few phrases in the chorus that have me stumped.

Thanks for your help.

Thanks to Dorrie's hint, I found it on a cached, now apparently defunct page through Google.

House Of Bamboo
(Earl Grant)

Number fifty-four, the house with a bamboo door
Bamboo roof and bamboo walls
They've even got a bamboo floor

You must get to know (ah!) soho Joe
He runs an espresso called the House of Bamboo

It's-a made of sticks, sticks and bricks
But you can get your kicks in the House of Bamboo
And it's got to swing it to the cha-cha
Dance the bolero in a sombrero
Shake a-like a snake!
You wanna drop in when the cats are hoppin'
Let your two feet move-a to the big beat
Pick yourself a kitten and listen to a platter that rocks
The jukebox
I'm-a tellin' you, when you're blue
Well, there's a lot to do in the House of Bamboo
Go, pretty boy, let's go, go!

In this casino you can drink cappuccino
Let your two feet move-a to the big beat
Pick yourself a kitten and listen to a platter that belts
I'm-a tellin' you, when you're blue
Well, there's a lot to do in the House of Bamboo

In the House of Bamboo

Three cheers for digging this one up!!! Any clues to when it was written and whether it was ever a "hit"? I might find a place for it, among the odds and ends, in my housing songbook along with "Dry Weather Housing" and "No-Tell Hotel."

Landlady's Daughter, not to be confused with Charley Noble et al
