help on whistle/flute sheet music

From: GUEST,Leila

I'm sure this has been covered here often, but could anyone suggest any good sources of sheet music for whistles and flutes? Perhaps free sources on the web?

I'm weak, so weak, I started off with 'classical' training that focused too much on reading the notes on the page. I'm not very good at picking up songs by hearing them so I need the sheet music.

Thanks in advance!

Cheers all Leila

Leila, click on the 'Links' choice above and you'll probably find a multitude of sites. JC's Tune Finder, which Mario listed above, is listed there and is one of the best. Probably more folk music of the British Isles has been transcribed in abc format than any other style. But JC's will show you the tunes in your choice of various graphic formats as well. I didn't see the Chiff and Fipple site listed in the links, but it's probably the most visited whistle site on the web. It's found here:

Nice to see another Flute player at Mudcat. Welcome !!!I hope you will stick around Leila.
If you type a word like whistle or flute in the box under the word 'filter' at the top of the 'threads' page and then set the age box next to it to a year then hit refresh. You will get a list of related discussions that have taken place before. You can read them and if you want 'revive' a thread by posting your comments to it, like I did with the pennywhistle-please help thread that has some of the info you want on it
Welcome again!!

Roger

yet another digital tradition.. gives you the option of printing the music with whistle tablature... so you get the dots + little pictures of whistle fingering below..... not as many tunes as JC's though
