Fantasic guest list for a little festival. However there is a little shindig on the Gloucest/Sharpness canal near me at Saul junction. No contest - I hate driving. Have Fun though.

To clarify, Cheydi and I play in the popular beat combo known as "Whorticulture" - recently estranged from our agent on grounds of mutual incompetence. "ruining folk festivals since 1998" etc etc. Anyway, folk's most prominent exponents of anti-social behaviour (i.e. us) will be doing one of these "meet the band" things. I strongly urge all of you not to come. ;)

Seriously, it would be nice to meet a few of you.

Love and Kisses, English Jon

Bron-bradford or Dewsbury is nearest. Dewsbury is only a couple of stops from huddersfield, but- The manchester trains run through there-some might stop. Bradford is only 7 miles away-(Bradford interchange is what you want) get back to me about it. I'll pm you my tel and mobile as well.

John is "meet" Worticulture on saturday morning? What time, in the town hall?

Noreen what time are you arriving? and where?, you can park near my house, it's literally only 6-10 minutes walk to town and safer.

Anything or anyone else?

Cheers.

Eric.

Whorticulture sounds interesting - as I'm staying at Eric the Viking's, I've no doubt he'll be dragging me along (I'm the one that doesn't sing or play guitar - or have a pigtail).

As for Clecky FF, this will be my 4th or 5th, and it's always good craic with some great artistes.

Looking forward to meeting some of you nutters, sorry - Mudcatters.

Roger-Saturday, is always the best day for seeing everyone, as it's the only full day. But the friday night opening gig is always good-followed by a long night in the Whickham arms-up to about 02.00 or so. sunday, afternoon town hall gig is good as well usually with the headliners. But it's all good. Sessions in pubs, singarounds, concerts etc. the beaty of a weekend ticket is to be able to pick and choose and wander about as you wish. If you are there look out for a bloke with a pony tail and greying moustache-me.

getting there from Sheffield-probably train to huddersfield and bus to Cleckheaton, or train, or National coach from sheffield to Bradford, then a bus from Bradford interchange to Cleckheaton. Motorway, M1-M62(West) turn off for Cleck/Dewsbury at M606
Cheers

The campsite is quite safe I beleive, wouldn't give too much chance of anywhere being safe, Jez. Our car got done outside Ma in laws place on one of the quietest streets in Selby. Last week we parked it for a weekend while we cycled and camped for two nights-not touched at all- in a lay by !. So you take your chances-there are quiet streets about 5 mins walk away from town-I live on one, might get a space on one of those.
See ya later

Blackstone Edge were mentioned over the weekend, GS, by Eric and Gaz, I think. Maybe they can help with info.

Of course JeZeBeL was there, playing great stuff, and English Jon's cat too- how could I have forgotten?! EJC served the very useful function of mopping up beer... but then, so do several other catters I could name.

I stood and drooled at the concertina cabinet for some time before being invited to open it :0). So many instruments, so little time... he said it was unusual to have so many Anglos in at the one time. I was very impressed with the new Marcus Music one; lovely tone and handled well.

Well I guess I can answer about Blackstone Edge mostly better than most as I know John Kershaw a little bit. He and I were chatting on Saturday evening. He has also found the mudcat site and will probably put a link on the NEW B/stone Edge website which is under construction.

He will probably look in and might read this, so John-hope I am right, if not give us the truth.

B/stone Edge are still gigging, they were at a place at Poole in wharfedale not so long ago and still do small gigs regulary. They have a new (1 year) singer who is excellent. The line up is much the same, the Kershaw brothers,(John and Robin), singer, bassist, fiddle?percussionist?.

They are hoping for more gigs and fresh and old audiences.

http://homepage.mac.com/jonkershaw/cff/

This is the Cleck folk fest website. (Roger put it in blue earlier. There is a link to Blackstones new site.

Raggytash, you can always get a lift with me to the Jug if you want providing you can get to my place by 19.30hrs.

Great to see and meet you all.

Cheers.

Just to say Clecky FF was as enjoyable as ever, and it was really good to meet up with some more Mudcatters. Big thanks to E the V, Dawn, Matt & Freja for their hospitality and beer.

I first saw Blackstone Edge a couple of years ago, and I thought they were an excellent folk-rock band. I even bought a couple of their CD's! (which were also excellent). They lost their original lead vocalist and fiddle player about 15 months ago (?), and since then they seem to have lost their way a little.

Anyway, once again, great to meet with everyone, and hopefully see some of you again at the Fylde FF.
