WOWWWW! I FEEL GOOD! (da-na-da-na-da-na-da)

BLESS THE LORD, O MY SOUL!
BLESSED ART THOU, MY GOD!
BLESS THE LORD, O MY SOUL!
AND ALL THAT IS WITHIN ME, BLESS HIS HOLY NAME!

I went strolling down the street one day, a song playing in my mind
Hopping and bopping like a ricochet, bad news was hard to find
There was a hint of syncopation coming from the sidewalk and the street
There was a rin-tin-tabulation hanging over everyone you'd meet
AND IT MAKES ME FEEL OKAYYYYYY!
LIKE A PIG WITH A BUCKET FULL OF TRUFFLES IN A FRENCH CAFE
LIKE A GENIE ON A TABLETOP, SURFING THROUGH THE MONTH OF MAY

Momma don't 'llow no Catspaw singin' 'round here.
Momma don't 'llow no Catspaw singin' 'round here.
I don't care what Momma don't 'llow,
Gonna sing about Catspaw any old how
Momma don't 'llow no Catspaw singin' 'round here.

Sorry; got carried away there.

Ahem.

Thanks for telling us the good news, Kat.

decoriously,
Alex

Dive-bombed, napalmed, nuclear warheaded
Dropped from a jet plane with no parachute
Shot by a firing squad & raped by a business suit

A bit more from Connie, via her husband, Wayne, who was an EMT, now PA:

Wayne just called

Surgery went fine. No surprises. The valve was irrepairable so they replaced it. P is successfully off the heart/lung machine. Blood is flowing the proper direction (it goes in reverse when on the h/l machine) Kidneys appear to be funtioning Waiting for P to come out of anesthsia. they are expecting this in about 45 min. or so

i would like to give you the " color commetary in full detail" but W is very much a "bottom line" kind of communicator...and medical info definately is reported in shift report/charting fashion.

Will update as I get more news Connie

This is how my heart feels

Thank you, Lord, for what you've done for me, yeah!
Thank you, Lord, for what you're doing now.
Thank you, Lord, for ev'ry little thing, yeah, yeah!
Thank you, Lord, for you made me sing.

Say I'm in no competition,
But I made my decision.
You can keep your opinion:
I'm just calling on the wiseman communion.

Thank you, Lord, for what you've done for me, yeah, yeah, yeah!
Thank you, Lord, for what you're doing now.
Thank you, Lord, for ev'ry little thing, yeah, yeah!
Thank you, Lord, for you made me sing.
Sing along, sing along:

I don't fear their aggression,
Just to prove my determination.
I don't yield to temptation;
I haven't learn't my lesson in Revelation.

Thank you, Lord, for what you've done for me, yeah-eah-eah!
Thank you, Lord, for what you're doing now.
Thank you, Lord, for ev'ry little thing, yeah, yeah!
Thank you, Lord, for you made me sing.
Sing along, sing along:

Said, I'm in no competition,
But I made my decision.
Lord, in my simple way,
Comin', comin', comin', comin':
I love to pray.

Thank you, Lord, for what you've done for me, yeah-eah-eah!
Thank you, Lord, for what you're doing now.
Thank you, Lord, for ev'ry little thing, yeah, yeah!
Thank you, Lord, for you made me sing.

Oh-oh-oh-oh!

Just talked with Karen. I told her that the very first thing she was to tell Pat when he awakened was that Maw had been to the Mudcatters site and that within 20 minutes over 38 of you had sent him messages. I know this will mean the world to him. Karen promised to give him the word. In fact, he should have it by now. Thanks to you guys. He should be REALLY full of the old vip and vinegar when he gets back. They say he will feel a whole lot better than he has been feeling. I asked Karen about the replacement valve and we figure that he won't go lub, dub dub anymore but instead, will go lub dub click. A new dimension to his repetoire of sounds!!maw, known to spaw as clarence.

Clarence, good to see you!

I've been sending on all of the messages to COnnie, so she can print them out for him. She's read the first batch and had this to say, as well as an update from Wayne:

i really enjoyed laughing..many, many "runners up" but i think biggest laugh has gotta go to the STAT order for another litre (or is it liter...I've read so much of other-than-the-USA version of English spelling...) of p***and vinegar. Spaw's surliness is expodential in the hospital.

Although, the devil's concern about him farting near the fire and brimstone may be accurate, also. ( and was a very close 1st runner up) Bill (Sables) and the Boys can attest to a little recollection our boys had about the day the lights went out in the kitchen (simultaneous to a trademark gaseous expulsion)...maybe Sam can come up with a reel about that?

Yeah - a call from Wayne.

K and W were just allowed into see Pat. W reports that Pat opened his eyes and looked at/knows them though W doubts that Pat will remember it.

The current plan of action is to have P off the vent in about 6 hours and if all goes well there, to then remove the endo-trachial tube. He will be in SICU til the morning and then evaluated for a step down.

THANKS, MAXWIZARD for the Marley-man, beautiful and just hits the spot. Hope you've had good news, too, darlin'.

Hi Clarence,

Nice to see you here again. You're right - it was definitely the Vegemite (not the Marmite) which did the trick.

McGrath: Marmite!
Helen: Vegemite!
McGrath: It was the Marmite! (biff!)
Helen: No, it was the Vegemite! (whack!)
McGrath: Ow!
Helen: You big brute!
Clarence: Just behave, the both of you, or I'll send you to your rooms without any supper!

Great to hear the news. As someone above said: Caloo, Calay!

Helen

P.S. I'm worried about the backless gown and the gaseaous explosions. A pair of iron clad undies might be wise.

And, another update...I feel like Connie and I have been stringers at an important, breaking news event for the Neil Young Center newsbeat or something!**BG**

Oh before I forget, she is editing out all references, in the previous thread's messages, to fundraising at this point, so we can keep the surprise element for when he is feeling better. She asked and I told her I thought that was best. No use in hitting him over the head with so much love and ambarrassment all at once. He will be pleased but embarrassed! Anyway, here's the latest from Connie:

latest word from Wayne is that the medical staff is looking towards 8-10 p Ohio time Daylight Savings for taking Pat off the vent and pulling out the Endo-trachial tube.

K and W have been into see P. He appears to recognize them and is responsive ( i didn't catch if that was reflexive or to command).

K is napping in the waiting room having basically gotten little to no sleep last night. Pat was uncomfortable and up and down til about 3a, I think K said. Finally K and Nurse convinced him a sleeping pill was in his best interest. Personally, i think he would have been alot better off if he could have been on mudcat awhile...but...soon. I will take/or send with K, everyone's best wishes, prayers, etc., that I have printed off.

You all are a real blessing...I'm so glad that Pat has so many friends who get to enjoy his unique style; and for those of you who have had the blessing of really getting to know him and share with him - we can probably all agree that he's quite multi-faceted, and a character to boot! It's not always easy to get next to Pat, but you are so right about his big, caring heart. Pat truly respects people who have developed talent/skill, but more than anything else it seems that who he really honors and deeply respects most are those who are passionate and compassionate. An awful lot of you are just that.

Thanks so much to all of you for your love and concern; kind and hilarious expressions to Pat and the 'spaw family.

More as it develops~ Connie

I agree, Connie, it's too bad he couldn't have had the Mudcat last night. Which gives me an idea. We could market the Mudcat for the healing tool it is, pipe it in to pre-surgery patients, get them into PalTalk and play for them, have chats for them, threads for them, just do our Mudcat do and slide them right on into the next day with nary a jitter, in positive spirits and ready to heal up! YeeHaw!

Spaw, you sweet ol' fart, I've been trying to think of something witty or at least intelligent to say, and I haven't had any luck. I'm just glad the surgery went well. I'm glad that you're going to eventually feel better than you have in a long time. I'm glad you're gonna be more mobile and I may have a chance to meet you. There are a few people who define the mood of a place, and you're one of those people here at Mudcat. I suspect you strongly affect people wherever you are.

To Karen, Clarence, Tris, Mikey, Wayne and Connie - if we can be called Pat's extended family, we're yours as well. Long-distance hugs for everyone.

Merry Solstice Eve, everyone. Thanks for the reminder, Noreen! Here is the latest from Connie and it sounds good. Thanks!!

Latest update from K Pat's color is good now, hands warm, swelling is going down, and is able to open and close both eyes. Is gesturing for K to talk to him. So now begins the 20 questions of which topic he wants to hear about. He doesn't remember W being there. He wanted to know how the surgery went, says his side hurts where they went in.

K inquired about the vent and they said his arterial blood gases "are not stellar" so they would be weaning him slowly off the vent. now hope tp have him off by morning. K says he is alert when he is awake and then drops off--no fading they want him more awake than this before they remove the vent K will stay all night with him.

K says when you are real close to him and it is quiet she thinks she can hear click-click. W says he can. That ought to be good material there for someone to run with! :)

Unless I hear something earthshattering i will update you all when K calls in the morning.

Later~ Connie

The Mudcat Thing
to the tune of: The Thing (as sung by --um-- you know, the guy who plays the voice of Baloo the Bear)

As I was surfin' on the web one bright sunny day
I came upon a wond'rous site, and never went away
I stayed around and chatted it up, and much to my surprise
I logged on with a click-click-click and soared the Mudcat skies, O!
I logged on with a click-click-click and soared the Mudcat skies

The first time that I surfed the 'Cat, 'twas lookin' for a song
Then I discovered the forum, and stayed to chat along
But I still find it hard to believe, that all these gals and guys
Just log on in with a click-click-click and soon the ol' mud flies, O!
They just log in with a click-click-click and soon the ol' mud flies!

Now, no-one warned me of a man whose manners are quite rough
He likes to tease and fool around, to kid and joke and bluff
Then one day he unleashed on me, as my eyes opened wide,
Oh, I got Spawed with a click-click-click, and laughed until I cried, O!
Oh, I got Spawed with a click-click-click, and laughed until I cried!

As time went on I heard about this wild and crazy man
And all the good things he has done across this crazy land
He has a heart that's big and wide, as wide as Ohio skies,
But his heart's valve leaked and went woosh-woosh-woosh, an unpleasant surprise, O!
His heart's valve leaked and went woosh-woosh-woosh, an unpleasant surprise!

And so the doctor set a date to try and fix his heart
They went on in with a tiny robot, a new and exciting art
They found the valve could not be fixed because it was no good,
So they put one in that goes click-click-click, and works just like it should, O!
They put one in that goes click-click-click, and works just like it should!

Now he is in recovery, his loved ones at his side
He's getting better as we speak, and making reasonable strides
But the tale is told to all the world by his own kids and wife,
They can hear his heart going click-click-click, as it will for the rest of his life!
They can hear his heart going click-click-click, as it will for the rest of his life!

TICKING! I was going to send my Uilleann Pipe bellows to Spaw's doc to fix the farting sound it's regulator valve makes, but who the hell wants a ticking sound coming out of yer pipes! I am glad I didn't send the pipes to him BEFORE the op, or he might have stuck the U P bellows valve in Spaw for the sake of ecconomy, actualy that might not be a bad idea, that sound may be taken for just the usual noise associated with Spaw, and be less disconcerting than ticking...
Now Sapw, I think we are on to something with your ticking... we can get the timex folks to go back to making wind up watches, reintorduce the old Timex comerciall, and do a sort of Mr. Bill comercial... "Here we have a ticking Timex and a Ticking Catspaw... we dump a load of Boston Baked beans on both... AND BOTH KEEP ON TICKING!!!!"
No that you have a built in metronome, report to us on the effect on your playing, Spaw... We had to spend 14 bucks on a metronome to put down a tick track for a recording, we could have just stuck a Spaw next to the mic!
Keep ticking ol'l pal - I just had an image of the crockadile from Peter Pan!
Kinda like belling the cat?
a silent moment in a moving ballad, big audience, dark hall... Tick... Tick... Tick, the performer (say Rick Fielding) looks up, "Oh! Hullo Spaw..." and goes on singing...
Cheersmdears on this happy holiday

PS Spaw gets a job at the Federal Building... first day of work, sorting mail... other mail sorter, "MY GOD WHAT'S THAT TICKING???... A BOMB!!!" They start franticly throwing mail into a bucket of water... one mail sorter puts his ear to Spaw's cheast, and into the bucket goes our Spaw!

Couldn't you guys start a different thread? Maybe you could exchange JPG's or something. This thread is for congratulating Spaw on still being alive.

I've just heard from Connie. Spaw sat uo for 1 hour today and had his hair washed with some sort of gel in a bath cap (I wonder if there is some sort of bath cap for his arse) Things seem to be going very well. (looks like he will be around pretty soon.

mousethief, pay attention. We have moved on to amusing Spaw now that he is doing better. See harpgirl's slightly irreverent contribution above,eg.

Does this mean you're still interested ? I'm certainly interested as to why you think I'm not circumsized. Circumspect you are ? Although, I cannot understand the circumstance that would lead you to ask. Perhaps you just wish to circumvent the circumstantiation of your curiousity by asking, albeit, indirectly. Apologies for my circumlocution. (Look em up.... I had to.)

Hey, gnu, Sinsull, don't beat around the bush. Let's cut to the chase. You two have been circling around and around, and things are about to come to a head. I can tell at a glan(ce) that you have something to get off your chest (so to speak), that you've been itching like a snake shedding its skin, fore and aft. So I won't give you the shaft.

All right, I'll come first. I knew a lad who, at the age of 24, had to be "done" a second time. Seems his lady wasn't quite faithful and had picked up genital warts and passed them to him. He was wheeled into the OR and quipped with a nurse, "Just a trim around the sides and nothing off the top." He was rather taken aback when she replied, looking to his nether region, "No. You want it taken off the top and put on the sides."

Gee. Although that's just the tip of the iceberg on that subject, my last post seems to have cut the discussion short... kinda nipped it in the bud... kinda... you know, this reaaalllly is thread drift... ouch !!!

Thread over and out. If ya got this far, Spaw, thanks for pullin through, pun intended. We appreciate it.

Typical boys! "I'm gonna talk about my tonka, not 'cos it's interesting but because it's my tonka! " Sheesh!

This ticking people keep going on about, do you think 'Spaw has recently attacked Captain Hook ? (Hums....."never smile at a crocodile....dum de dum dum dum de dum de dum dum dum".)

Great to hear you're "up" already, now remember the trick is to remember to keep breathing In..out..in...out etc.

May the road rise with you!

But maybe Alison will oblige you with half a page in next year's calendar for whatever....Spaw, get back here. I'm in over my head. No, that isn't exactly what I meant to say...nevermind.
