BS: T.A.R.D.I.S about to leave...

From: MMario

I'm going bonkers here - twenty hours and 48 minutes until the Gates of the Shire open to Her Most Puissant and Glorious Majesty, Elizabeth Regina, Gloriana, Good Bess herself. (Not that I'm keeping track, or anything like that) And almost 4.5 hours until I can leave w*rk.

I do still have to finish printing off the award certificates for the archery contest...but how long does that take?

I wanna go back to the sixteenth century!

Wich is where I will be for the next seven weekends - so don't be surprised if I'm a little disoriented on Mondays around here...

and of course, should any MudCats find themselves in Warwickshire (Sterling, NY) while Her Majestie's Festival is running --MMario can be found (most of the time) at the archery booth. Usually if MMario is not at the archery booth he will either be back shortly - or it's pub sing time and you can find him there.

It IS hard to find fast printers in the 16th century Mario.

The shire does have a printer that can do about 6 pages an hour! Incredible technology...

The coin press is faster though - and much more fun to watch.

Would this be the coin press that travels to Revel Grove? If so, it is indeed fascinating.

Are you into archery? I just got a bow this summer and if Mister ever sets me up a target in the back yard, I'll actually get to practice. :-)

jeff - I believe that it be closely related, if not the same. Indeed - I do believe the printing press doth be likewise the same.

Don't forget the handheld portable tape recorder to catch all those pub tunes now. See me if you want my spare tiniest one. We can put it in a leather case so it looks period.

It can go as a scribe.

I just got a new one...*grin*

but as an employee I really shouldn't break the "no recording equiptment" rule...however should there be some NEW ones....that rule may fly out the window!

On the other hand - will try to get some recordings from the campfires at the campgrounds - especially if we get the harmonies going...

Safe journey, milord. Let not thy eagerness impede on thy caution, what with the full moon's strangeness upon us. I, too look forward to updates this coming Monday, as I count the hours ere I travel to the Pennsic Wars on the next full moon.

okay - I miscalculated earlier - it was only 3.5 hours until I got out of the cubicle and get to leave. Now only 1.5 minutes.

I'm outta here!

I haven't been to Sterling Forest in years. No excuse this year. I will pay you a visit MM.

Sinsull - I'm not in Sterling Forest....on the faire circuit that faire is known as "Tux" - I am in Sterling - way,way north - up by Oswego. Probably 5 hours if you have a low flying airplane, 6 or more for ordinary mortals.

I think I am awake - sorta.

It was a nice weekend, weather-wise, the first we have had for opening day in 4 years. That, plus the 2 for 1 sale on admission meant great crowds - had at LEAST 700 people through the Archery booth both Saturday and Sunday - probably more - but that's the minimum for both days.

My comment regarding the MD - Sterling is smaller, has fewer "shops" - and we also have a bloody great hill dividing our shire into two portions - while Maryland Ren-faire is blessed with virtually level ground (comparitively) - From what I've seen they also have a larger cast, and they are MUCH easier to find (Sterling is out in the back of beyond on country roads)

Maryland of course also has the incomparable Pyrates Royale - to whom I could (and do) listen to for hours on end.

Regarding the Corsairs - a singing group of pirates (again) who I saw in Texas; their Shantyman is on cast at Sterling this year (yea!) and I got to see most of one of the shows that he does.

the "levitating archer" trick went over quite well,(heh-heh-heh-heh, I *love* doing the levitating archer, heh-heh-hehheh) my new assistants are catching on quickly, Her Majesty and members of her court shot at Archery twice this weekend, Sir Philip sidney was by for a bit of target practice, the Highwayman and his sister settled a family argument at the Archery List, and Merry Mischief (a duo of Minstrels I've known for several years) graced us with a lovely song)

And I am off again for another couple days. Have fun, I've got two or three new songs to learn this weekend if I have time between archery and wenches and pub crawls and pub sings and the rogue's sing and....

MMario, do you ever get to the Ontario Ren Fair ???? I used to be the Blacksmith there. I will be there Morris dancing this year on July 27/28 weekend. JohnB

I have been to the Ontario faire - would like to try to get up there again this year (The problem of course is that we overlap on the runs - and after 7 weeks away I have some serious sucking up to do with family before I can go off gallivanting again) Have a couple friends that work/play at ontario. Stephen the Forester and his Lady Rose - who are both cousins-by-faire...

BUSY weekend - didn't get to any of the music shows - barely had time to run to the privies....but did get to sing along with some of the rogue's pub sing as they are "next door" - and had a lovely woman play recorder for about an hour IN MY BOOTH! yes! course it's a little difficult to sing and hawk at the same time - so the verses were pretty disjointed....

I will build my love a...12 arrows, here you are! and on it I will ...three pound be your change...

zero lyrics learned, unfortunately - maybe during work this week....*grin*
