29 Jul 01 - 03:17 PM (#517263) Subject: Stan Kelly lives From: McGrath of Harlow For no reason in particular I got to thinking about Stan Kelly, from Liverpool.
If you haven't heard of Stan Kelly, enter his name in the DT/forum search, and up come a sizeable bunch of songs that he wrote, including some people assume are traditional like the Liverpool Lullaby. And that's only a fraction of what he has written.
But there's haven't been more than a couploe oif passing mentions of him in the forum so far as I can see. So I thought I'd try Google, and sure enough up canme a couple of links to do with his songs - and then a site marked "obit", dated at the end of last year.
"Bugger" I thought, and I clicked on that, with a view to reporting back here. And I found it was another much older fella. And then I clicked away and found that rhe man is alive and writing away on the net, largely about computers and the internet - and here is his latest column, with the rest all archived.
And I'm very pleased to have written my first non-obit. Good man, Stan. (A.k.a. as Stan Bootle, which I'd forgotten.)
