I know this is a really wide question but i guess what i mean is like when you are upset or just feeling abit down what song will make you feel good again just hearing it. These two always do the trick for me- 'Slide' by goo goo dolls - 'What you feel is what your and what you are is beautiful'+'do you want to get married and run away?' Because its ace remembering how someone feels about you when the world is really pooey and i cant help but smile. And 'Our Town' - cos it ROCKS!!!!!!! I know this question has probably been asked a million times but i couldn't find it dorrie xx |

There is something wonderful and lilting in the waltz time and the tune that makes me want to walk faster, whistle, smile, sing loudly....Click Here (and up the tempo by about half again}.......What it is I have no idea but I think we're all hit with weird stuff occasionally for which we have no explanation.....and I ain't got one for this either. It finally came to me why the songs that make me feel good actually do. I suppose there are lots of folk songs in my list and certainly some Pat Sky stuff, but many of them are pop songs of the time, whatever time that was. They all evoke pleasant memories and can often take me to very specific time and place. Another "Feelin' Good" song for me is "The Letter" by the Boxtops. I can put myself into an extremely specific time and place.....and I mean to the second. I'm a couple of years into college and walking back to my dorm. I have just left Joyce at her dorm and her perfume is still in my brain as is the song that was playing in the Snack Bar at the Alumni Building......"The Letter." It's April, about 4 in the afternoon and I'm outside Kentucky Hall, hustling along so I can get back and pick up Joyce for supper and the evening. It's blue sky day and about 55 degrees......I may never have felt better in my life than I did at that moment......except when Karen agreed to marry me. Over 30 years later it's as clear and distinct as though it just happened. Wonder if Joyce has enjoyed her life as much as I have mine? Haven't seen her in 25 years or more..........The first real love, never forgotten is it? Spaw

Mine, hands down, is the theme music to "Disneyland's Main Street Electrical Parade". Yup. Nearly ten minutes of hideous mid-70's synthesizer retakes of fairly bland Disney classics rolled together into one great big "Baroque Hoedown" (that's what it's called. No. Seriously.). See... I'm an Orange County California brat, born and bred. I've lived in and around OC my whole life, and from birth, Disneyland was my big 'thrill' as a kid. And on top of it all was that damned parade, a christmas lights display on steroids with ELO on ecstasy to boot. *sniff* Other than that? The Vandals. Almost anything by 'em off their first two albums. Orange County punk band. "Parting Glass", the version done by CA band "The Poxy Boggards", because it's... well, sentimental. Heck, there are a ton of them. It's not the songs that cheer me up. No matter how well (or poorly) done they are, it's the memories they invoke every time the strains hit my depression blackened brain. I think that's the universal key. No matter who did the song, or what it is - it's what it meant to you earlier in your life. M |

Vivid imagery that puts a lump in your throat fom the midpoint of the first verse strainght to the end of the song, and sung like angels.
