From: JUSTKATE

Hello all.. What a cool site !!

I have a song i'm looking for the lyrics of for my mother.. Something about "and 10,000 Macedonian soldiers in full battle array" Can anyone help me out ??

Also I do Medieval re-enactments (SCA and Faires) and I am looking for the rest of the lyrics to the Valkrie song.. I have this much so far

They fly through the night skies..flapping their fat thighs, picking up dead guys ..Here they come now..

I want a blonde one..I want a red-head.. "Hey that one's not dead !!.. Look at him go.."

A friend in the SCA taught us those lyrics but not the rest.. The Wenches Guild (my local) has been after me to get the rest.. Anyone know it ????

Thanks for reading !!

It's called the Memory Shtick, and it involves memorizing the following ten lines. Once you know them, the fun begins. You call a kid out of the audience to stand up in front of everyone. He/she must repeat each line after you, reciting all of the lines before it. So, you'll say line 1; he says line 1. You say line 2; he says line 1 and line 2; you say line 3; he says lines 1, 2, and 3. And so on. Enjoy!

One hen.
Two ducks.
Three squawking geese.
Four corpulent porpoises.
Five limerick oysters.
Six pairs of Don Alverso's tweezers.
Seven thousand Macedonian soldiers dressed in full battle of array.
Eight brass monkeys from the ancient sacred crypts of Egypt.
Nine sympathetic apathetic diabetic old men on rollerskates with a marked propensity toward procrastination and sloth.
Ten diabolical denizens of the deep who haul the maul and crawl the quay all around the block at the same time at the break of day.

THE VALKYRIE SONG
(Tune: Wagner's "Flight of the Valkyries")

We fly through the night skies
Flashing our fat thighs,
Picking up dead guys;
You call this a job?

You take the blond guy,
I'll take the redhead!
Wait, he's not dead yet;
Let him go . . . splat!

Chorus:
Woo-oop! Woo-oop!
Woo-oop! Woo-oop!
Woo-oop! Woo-oop!
Woo-oop! Woo-oop!
Oh-h-h-h-h-h!

We're hunting the Wabbit!
We're hunting the Wabbit!
We're hunting the Wabbit!
We're hunting the Wabbit!

Kate

This is the nearest I could do for your Macedonian Soldiers (looks related)

    One hen
    Two ducks
    Three squawking geese
    Four limerick oysters
    Five porpulant porpoises
Six pairs of Don Alvarsos's tweezers
Seven marching Macedonian Soldiers in full battle array
Eight brass monkeys from the ancient crypts of Egypt
Nine apathetic, sympathetic, diabetic old men on roller skates with a marked propensity for procrastination and sloth
Ten lyrical, spherical, diabolical denisions of the deep who haul stall around the corner of the quo, the quivey, and the quake,
    all at the same time.

From here.

Cheers! Ian

Ten Lyrical Spherical Diabolical Denizens of the Deep Dark Den who quay the Quee of the quivey.(sp?)

Here's the other one....

THE VALKYRIE SONG
Tune: Wagner's "Flight of the Valkyries"

We fly through the night skies
Flashing our fat thighs,
Picking up dead guys;

Wait, he's not dead yet!
Let him go...splat!

Chorus:

We're hunting the Wabbit!

My personal time record on the thing is 12 seconds and still understandable.......you need a good breath first.

As to the Valyries.......Well let me just say I love the smell of napalm in the morning.

Pete Seeger did a version of the "memory sthick" MANY years ago...Obviously, these 'verses' get re-written as folks try to recreate the idea...

One verse I remember was: "Seven sailing ships sailing from Orinoco to Madagascar on Prince Thergar's wedding day."
