Lyr Req: Yo Yo Man (Rick Cunha)

Long long time ago I can still recall how Rick Cunha used to make me smile

With a tune I think he wrote Just a few words I can quote And maybe they'll convey his sense of style ...

(That's about enough of that!)

I'm looking for the words - and if anyone remembers the tune for the verses that'd be fine too - to Rick Cunha's song "Yo Yo Man" ...

The chorus went,

Down at the playground, puttin on a show Talkin to the little kids (Listen to my yo yo) (I'm a yo-yo man) RC Cola, Scooter Pie ... Sleepin at the "Y"

The (lines in parentheses) seemed to be interchangeable; somewhere in memory I've got them two-tracked, one sung over the other, maybe it was recorded that way?

And the "..." stands in for six notes plunked on the guitar.

Does anyone else remember this? (Remember more of it than I can?)

With kind regards, Stranger Here

Take your time. I'm grateful and there's no need for any hurry.

(Just that every now and then the song goes through my head, and asks where I put the rest of its words. I hate having so poor an answer as my current one: "Um ...")

Greycap - *Many* thanks; I'm dropping you a line.

(LPs? I'm old enough to remember 78s. In dog's years I'd be historical.)

OK, Stranger,
Got into the vinyl - the album is " Sharepickers" by Mason Williams & Friends, Warner Bros K46120. That's yer boring info for the day. Sit tight, deathless prose coming up:

"Well, I'm a little farm boy. I never felt free.
I was tied to my job and tied to my people,
Livin' like a chili bean in a can,
When along one day there cam a yo-yo man.

Well, he went where he wanted and he did what he pleased,
Never had it hard and the living coming easy,
Mighty fine words from a mighty man,
Going to leave my home & friends if I can.
And be a yo-yo man
Down at the etc.....

Well I left my home and I went out west
Headed up north to do what I like best
Bright light cities and your little dark towns
Yo-yo man he's a-going to get around

I'm a-hitching for a ride where the traveling's free
All your city limit signs look alike to me,
Traveling man is like a yo-yo top
Once he gets to spinning well he just can't stop (it’s a yo-yo sound)
Down at....

Well, that's it, if you want a cassette, just say. It's 2140 hrs. where I live - time for stress relaxant liquids, namely beer. Wanna go with me for a cold one?

Enjoy,
Roger Knowles
