BS: Can a Woodchuck survive in the UK?

OK, this here's the situation:

I'll be flying out of Boston with my daughter and son on 4 October, arriving London the next day, and be in the UK until early morning the 11th. My kids have decided that I shouldn't be allowed to turn 60 without ever having been out of the US further than Montreal. Kris can't make this trip, as she just started a new job, but she's been to Yurp several times and I never have. So there.

Our plans are very loose, but essentially we're going to "do" London for a day or two, then work our way north, bump up into Scotland a little. Tom Russell will be performing up that way, and we hope to make one of his shows if they ain't all sold out.

Thoughts as to where we should go and what we should do - especially those involving folk music and/or Beer (I get the impression they're hopelessly interrelated in the UK, which is fine with me) are welcomed.

Peter.

It's a Socialist plot to kidnap all our local talent to the UK and force Max to change Mudcat Headquarters to Hull! Think Colin Powell can handle this one? Have fun, guys.

Immigrant Woodchucks require Essential Scottish Music Info

This site only deals with the music scene in Edinburgh, which is where you want to be if you are in Scotland. (Except for Monday nights, when you want to be in Glenfarg).

Give my regards to Glenfarg. I did a gig there 11 years ago.

And, if you bump into a duo called GABERLUNZIE, give them my best too.

Peter, take some extra bucks to bail Kendall out of the can if he gets arrested for exposing himself again. Outside of that, meet a lot of 'Catters and have a great time!!!

Ye'd best PM Micca and the rest of the London/UK crowd. If you don't they will surely seek revenge, and then a woodchuck wouldn't survive.........

Consider me drummed up! I am at my office near London Bridge most days, and would love to meet up with Midchuck and any other 'catters who can get along. I can even offer accommodation if necessary.

You'll need to be organised to get the most out of a seven day visit, travel here can be a bit slow and frustrating.

Anything we can do to help - just PM.

Alan

We're going to rent (I guess you say "hire" over there) a car, and hurtle about, remembering to get back over on the left where we're supposed to be, just in time to avoid any number of head-on collisions (we hope).

I can't wait. Kendall, you can ride with us.

Peter.

I've driven in Scotland many times, but, my new insurance company will not cover me outside the USA and Canada. To hire a car in the UK is very expensive, then, if you add their insurance, you may as well buy the damn car!

Subject: RE: BS: Can a Woodchuck survive in the UK?
From: Noreen

A recent survey found that it was cheaper to buy and insure a car for a journey between Newcastle and London, than to buy a train ticket... (unless you bought the train ticket well in advance).

Hmmmm....

Welcome to the UK, Kendall! Just as well you've got nice mudcatters happy to get you around.

Well, its really JenEllen's field but I've just had a look on the internet about habitat and my laymans guess is that a Woodchuck would do well in the UK - perhaps too well.

As for Midchuck or Kendall or anyone else, if anyone is thinking of Norfolk, I'm always keen on meeting 'catters and can be emailed at jonbanjo@freeuk.com or PM'd.

(I'm living at my parents at the moment and whereas I gave my phone number out in the past, I don't think it right to publicise theirs)
