My transcription from the song heard on Spotify:

THE BLUEGRASS SOUND
As recorded by Jack Tottle on "The Bluegrass Sound" (2002).

Well, the banjo came across from Africa; they say the guitar came from Spain.
The mandolin is from Italy, but they blend in just the same.
Lord, I love to hear that bluegrass sound—
Somethin' 'bout that music goin' down

The white man had the fiddle tune; the black man had the blues.
They both put in a little gospel just to see what they could do.
Lord, I love to hear that bluegrass sound—
Somethin' 'bout that music goin' down.

Arnold Shultz was a black man, and Uncle Pen was white.
Bill Monroe heard what they could do and he knew they had it right.
He put their music into the bluegrass sound—
Somethin' 'bout that music goin' down.

Earl Scruggs had the rhythm; old Earl he had the drive.
He could make that banjo talk like nobody else alive.
He had the blues and the bluegrass sound—
Somethin' 'bout that music goin' down.

Well, the banjo head is white as snow; the fingerboard is black,
But you got to have both to make music, and that's God's honest fact.
Lord, I love to hear that bluegrass sound—
Somethin' 'bout that music goin' down.

Well, the banjo head is white as snow; the fingerboard is black,
Like it took black and white to make bluegrass, and that's God's honest fact.
Lord, I love to hear that bluegrass sound—
Somethin' 'bout that music goin' down.
Lord, I love to hear that bluegrass sound—
Somethin' 'bout that music goin' down.
