Best Pickup Or Transducer For Acoustic

Hi Folks!

It's really me, wdyat12, but I've doubled my pleasure and doubled my fun without chewing gum. I need to know the best pickup or transducer to fit a pre-Japanese Epiphone Texan flat-top guitar. I want to plug in to my computer with Cakewalk II and I also want to be able to plug into a stage amp.

Happy marriage!!!

TRY THIS THREAD for starters....a ton of info. Then enter pickup in the search box with the filter set for 3 years and you'll get more.

or you could just buy you a nice takamine with onboard electronics, and you can solve both problems at once.

He's insulted it, by never playing it above the third fret, plus now it only plays in 4.1 over 4. It hasn't had a good "F" in years, and sadly it doesn't remember me!

By the way wd, "Pick up the world" has won raves from a lot of Pros. Fishman Rare Earth Blender, as well.

Fit a Fishman (or Fischman) if it's good enough for Martin and Taylor to fit then it must be among the best. I had one fitted on my Ephiphone Vintage Bluesmaster and it sounded double fantastic.

Another hurrah for the Fishman. I've also heard that the I-Beam from Baggs is very good.

Pickup the World is owned by BlueJay's kids and he also works for them..They are doing a fine job of working with their customers.....If you're interested in them, send him a PM.

Aside from all the wonderful advice above, try the new(ish) Schertler pickup. Mandolinist Chris Thile is said to use it. It is expensive, I think about $400US, but it's supposed to be the next big thing in pickups. I don't know much else about it other than it's available at Stewart-MacDonald (www.stewmac.com)

Mooh.

Someone said that they heard the L.R. Baggs I-Beam is great - you bet'cha. Just had one installed for a friend of mine by Augustino LoPrinzi the noted Luthier. Man does it put out. Unlike a piezo, the I-Beam will drive your little amp wild at the 2 setting. The L.R.Baggs Transducer is great also. Clean, Crisp, Clear and makes your acoustic sound like it's miked. None of the fuzzy crap you get with some piezo's.

I have the LR Baggs pickup on two guitars, the Ibeam is fantastic for sound replication to me. It's easy to install too.
