From: Midchuck Because one of the standard gags in the stereotype of American Jews is their supposed tendancy to brag about their childrens' professional status. Remember Allan Sherman, My Son, the Folksinger? A switch on "My son, the doctor...or lawyer...or whatever. Of course, in reality, it's a flaw of all parents. It just got characterized as being a Jewish thing. Peter. |

31 Oct 01 - 01:49 AM (#582957) Subject: RE: BS: My kid found work! Yeehaw! From: mouldy Congratulations! Isn't it a wonderful feeling? My baby boy eventually got himself off his recently graduated butt and went to a job agency about 2 months back for a temp job, before applying to join the Navy. They gave him one in the Environment Agency planning office, which is now looking like it may turn into something permanent. He's been so happy since day one and they, for some strange reason, seem to like him too! Is it "My son the Doctor, then?" You must be so proud. Good luck to him. Andrea |
