AudioTools has a nice feature which is that it can split tracks when a user-defined 'silence' occurs. Once recorded to the PC, most CD writers come with a suitable recording package, but again I use RealAudio Jukebox. |

28 Jan 08 - 02:44 PM (#2247243) Subject: RE: Help: Vynyl to Cd: Advice requested From: Gurney I used an Optimus LAB 1100, which is a cheap turntable built specifically for the job, it has a pre-amp, and a free program called LP Recorder to digitise the signal. This doesn't record proper CDs,(there's more information on a proper CD) just digitises the signal and records it to CD. It works well, and it's as easy as taping an LP. If your LPs are old and noisy, what you hear is what you'll record with this set-up. |

Art Isberg, if you Google your device, chances are very good that you will encounter forum discussions (not necessarily at Mudcat) where people with that exact device have been talking amongst themselves to solve problems. If you find a forum like that, it's always a nice idea to report your findings back here. (I did that recently with a software problem, and it was interesting how a few non-mudcatters landed on that thread to ask more questions or offer suggestions.) Good luck. SRS |

It comes in an attractive little wood cabinet that looks like an old-time console radio. This is undoubtedly more expensive than finding the right software to rig up your computer along with an attached turntable, but it's an effective prepackaged option for those unwilling or unable to do the tech work necessary to assemble a more economical option. As far as I can tell, the end-product CDs are absolutely OK, but I'd be interested if anyone might offer an option that some do-it-yourself option actually would yield better results than this kind of ready-to-go appliance. |

29 Jan 08 - 02:25 PM (#2248028) Subject: RE: Help: Vinyl to CD: Advice requested From: Brendy I transferred all my Vinyl to Cd years ago before all the new USB technology arrived (or affordable digital technology, for that matter), and used the Wavelab/Sound Forge programmes to 'de-click', 'de-noise', etc. The whole conversion process took me 3-odd years. But it is done now, and although the quality could be better were I to have done it nowadays, I have neither the time nor the inclination to start again from scratch. I have heard great reports, however, of the Turntable-USB devices that are out there, but I'll leave it to our luminaries in that subject to advise you further. B. |

BTW with over 600 albums it will take a while to transfer. |
