Help: POST WWII Songs-Vet's Day Program

I have several gigs this week end to do Veterans' Day programs. I have more WWI and WWII era songs than I can handle, but I don't know what songs to do to appeal to veterans of Korea and Viet Nam (or later years). (Yeah, I know the Ballad of The Green Berets and Okie From Muskogee.)

The songs don't absolutely have to be about war or patriotism--just songs that the troops listened to while stationed wherever they were stationed. (E.g., the Korean Conflict or Viet Nam War equivalent of "Lili Marlene," or "Keep The Home Fires Burning," or "Bluebirds Over The White Cliffs Of Dover," "Sentimental Journey," or "K-K-K-Katy.")

Any of you folks have any suggestions?

Genie

I was in Vietnam in 1968. We had a jukebox in our bunker (no idea where it came from) with only 5 songs on it. They were "Folsom Prison Blues" by Johnny Cash, "Fool on the Hill" by Brazil 66, "light my Fire" by somebody other than the Doors, "WE Gotta Get Outa This Place" by ? and "My Girl" by ?

Under the influence of strong drink we'd sing the "Fixin' to Die Rag" (Written by Country Joe MacDonald.)

I don't ever want to hear those songs again, but some of the other Vvets might like to.

Irish Jimmy,

"We Gotta Get Outa This Place" was by The Animals (though it COULD have been the Kinks)...maybe another Brit, or someone could confirm/correct that?

"Paint It Black" by the Rolling Stones was APPARENTLY quite popular too?

Here are some. And one is told a favorite from Viet Nam was "Puff the Magic Dragon." Also, I read that when the troops pulled out, they sang the song they all remembered from childhood, "Mickey Mouse."
