It looks like I'll be in Seattle on Sunday and will try to make it to Song Circle. Could someone b.c. me and tell me where it is..likewise if there are any concerts etc. I shouldn't miss on Sunday...although I might be tied up at dinner time. Anyone else going to make it? But please use the above email address and don't try to PM me because I don't think it works for me.

Hey, Mary, I'm in Seattle now (Friday) but I'm leaving Sunday morning. Sorry I'll miss you, and the Song Circle--would have been great to be there. But I'm trying to find out if there's any good music or a contradance Saturday night; I can't seem to get the Victory Music website to work. Anybody got any info? I seem to remember there used to be a second Saturday contra...at the Ballard Eagles?

Aloha,
Mark

Mary, I've been livin' in the neighb a long time and have never heard of that song circle. Can you share that info with us locals?

Mark, sorry, I don't get out much and don't know how to contra so I'm afraid I'm no help in that department.

It is...I was a regular when I lived in Seattle in the late 80s. Say hello for me if you go. And I just did a little digging on my own starting from the SFS page, and found out that there's a contradance at the Ballard Community Center tomorrow night. So thanks for helping me find an answer to my own question, ghost! Have fun on Sunday.

Aloha,
Mark

Guest, ghost,
You should join the Seattle Folklore Society that Mark supplied the link to. They will send you a monthly calendar that has details about hundreds of folk music and dance events in the Seattle area.

Hey John, do they have a fee for that kind of membership? or can I get the same info online somewhere?

Mark, there is a "Greenwood Family Sing" hosted by Jonathan Betz-Zall on the second Saturday each month.
The details on Seattle Song Circles, including Jonathan's phone number, are on this page

Hi folks,

The Seattle song circle this Sunday, Nov. 11th will be at the home of Fred Maslan - NE corner of N 73rd St and Dayton Ave N on Phinney Ridge.

Also there are the following concerts sponsored by the Seattle Folklore Society this weekend:

Saturday, November 10
Lui Collins
Grateful Bread, 8:00 PM
General Admission: $10
$1 off for SFS members, seniors and kids

Sunday, November 11
Laurie Lewis
Carlson Theatre, Bellevue Community College, 7:00 PM
General Admission: $20
$5 off for SFS members, seniors and kids

Hi Mark. Sorry to miss you - next time stay a little longer and come to the song circle.

And Reggie, if you join SFS you get the flyer with the calendar and short articles about concerts, etc. delivered to you home every month (this is not available online). Otherwise, you might pick up a complementary copy at Dusty Strings, the Greatful Bread and a few other places before they run out of copies. But supporting SFS is a good cause.

Cheers, S. in Seattle
