Help: DESPERATELY seeking session in Cumbria

A friend of mine (fiddle and mandolin) is on business in Cumbria, he will have to stay much longer than first thought. Now he is hoping that he could sweeten his stay up there with a couple of sessions... He is based in Wokington, but he's got a car and is willing to drive a good distance. He's a good crack, and definately doesn't mind a bit of drive to get there...

Does anyone know of a session??

He would be looking for a session mainly Scottish, Irish... but other influences as well is great...

Hope you can give me some ideas - I think he's getting bored of lack of music.

The Dolton folk club meets in Barrow on a Tuesday evening (I think). Sorry, don't know where they meet. Somewhere I have the phone number of one of their members; if I can find that he'd be a good man for your friend to call. I'll try and hunt it out this evening.

Great thanks Scott,

My friend is a fellow Scot, from Glasgow, that would be great - he'd be chuffed to be able to play music during the week, to liven up the week.

Send me a pm if you find the number...

There's a folk club in Keswick on a Tues or Weds, the Queens I think. Info from the tourist information at the Moot Hall.

There's a website (with a very long URL) about Irish music in North-West England. Its focuses mainly on Manchester, but it does mention other venues. A Google search should find it for you.

Great thanks...

I think he went to one of the other ones I found for him in Gosforth, still waiting to hear what it was like.

Cheers all

The Old Dungeon Ghyll used to have sessions of sorts, but since the National Trust have taken over....I just don't know.

Good luck.
