Lyr Req: Holly the Hedgehog (McTell?)

Several years ago I remember one of my sons coming home singing a song starting
Holly the hedgehog, Holly the hedgehog,
Nobody wants to dance with her.
She has prickles and they tickle......'
and we can't remember any more, but the story is about her teaming up with a tortoise or turtle because he couldn't feel the prickles!!! Anyone have the rest?

It's from Ralph McTell's Alphabet Zoo, a children's TV programme from the late 80's. I've got a copy of the LP somewhere but I'm not sure where it is at the moment.

Not forgetting Les Barker's Nobody Hugs A Hedgehog

Holly the hedgehog Holly the hedgehog
Nobody wants to sleep with her
She's got prickles scratching and they tickle
All the other animals that have fur

She went to sleep with Rabbit
But he couldn't stand it
Wake up Holly this will not do
You tickle and you crush me
You prickle and you squash me
Somebody else must sleep with you

Holly the hedgehog......

She went to sleep with Dormouse
Couldn't stay at her house
Wake up Holly .......

Holly the hedgehog.......

Dormouse and the Rabbit
Said they couldn't stand it
Wake up Holly......

Holly the hedgehog slept in the back shed
The brooms and the brushes they didn't complain
Wrapped in a pound note like a paper overcoat
Out of the way of the wind and rain

Other gems on the LP include Kenny the Kangaroo, Yuri the Yak, Unwin the Unicorn, Ollie the Otter and Victor the Vulture amongst others. They was originally an animal song for every letter of the alphabet, and a story to go with it. If you want a tape of it PM me with your address - then you can sing along too!

Seems to be some disagreement as to whether it's 'sleep with' (which I remeber) or 'dance with'. has someone bowdlerised this to protect the sensibilities of children?

I remember this from my nursery teacher singing it, probably 1987/8. Definitely with Dancing and a tortoise happy ending. I'm writing my own lyrics now to teach the next generation.
