Help: Children's Folk CD - what's the name?

Subject: Children's Folk CD - what's the name?
From: Mark Cohen

In 1993 or 1994 I bought a wonderful CD of folk and "folk-style" children's music for my then 5-year-old stepson. I remember some of the artists -- Michael Cooney, Sweet Honey in the Rock, Pete Seeger -- and some of the songs -- De Colores, Puff the Magic Dragon, I Carried Water for the Elephant. (It was the thread on that last song that reminded me about this CD.) The name, the label, and most of the other stuff have been disconnected from my memory retrieval system. Can anybody help? I seem to recall the cover was orange and yellow, if that will jog your memory.

Aloha,
Mark

The one on the Barnes & Noble link is a favorite in our family for long car trips (I'll never forget our reaction the first time the Sweet Honey in the Rock "Little Red Caboose" came thru the speakers), but I don't think it's the one requested: no Cooney, no De Colores or I Carried Water... I'm curious.

Thanks, Shambles, that looks like a wonderful collection, but as Becky suspected that's not it. There is some overlap, though, because John McCutcheon's "Skip to My Lou" and Sweet Honey in the Rock's "Little Red Caboose" and Maria Muldaur's version of Dave Mallett's "Garden Song" were all on the one I'm looking for. (Now I'm not so sure Michael Cooney is on it after all.) "Puff the Magic Dragon" was sung by a young girl, with an additional verse. And there was some incredible nonsense song about polka-dot something or other that's dancing around just outside my recollection. I'm still hoping my memory will kick in, or else some alert 'Catter will rescue me.

Aloha,
Mark

GOT IT! It's called Family Folk Festival. A little deeper digging on Google finally found it. Highly recommended, by the way. Doc Watson's "Grandfather's Clock" is a gem, and Taj Mahal's "Humpty Dumpty" rocks! This is not a sweet sappy talking-down-to-kids collection. Check out the samples on the Amazon page. And by the way, if you do decide to buy this, make sure you click on the "Help Support the Mudcat" fish-in-the-banjo at the top of the page to reach amazon.com.

Thanks so much Mark!
I was just trying to remember the name to this very same album which my parents played all the time during childhood, it's a timeless collection.
