03 Dec 02 - 11:38 AM (#839666) Subject: RE: Nightingale's Lullaby From: GUEST,Don I, too, am looking for information about "Nightingale's Lullaby" (words, chords.) The song is an original composition of a singer named Julie Last. It was apparently specially commissioned for the compilation album "Celtic Twilight 3: Lullabies." Another mudcat thread provided the following information about that album: Celtic Twilight 3: Lullabies (Various Artists) copyright 1996 Hearts Of Space, P.O. Box 31321, San Francisco, CA 94131 (web address: www.HOS.com). Anyone out there know this one? |

05 Dec 02 - 10:49 AM (#841439) Subject: RE: Nightingale's Lullaby From: GUEST,Don Thank you, Masato, but I already have the Celtic Twilight 3 CD. I cannot determine all of the words by just carefully listening to the recording (I suspect that this was also the problem for the original requestor, Braken.) Too many of the words are swallowed up in the mix. I suppose that the solution would be to buy the sheet music, if such exists. But I don't know how to find out if it is available, and where. Searching GOOGLE on "Nightingale's Lullaby" just provides references to the Celtic Twilight 3 recording. Searching on "Julie Last" also provides no useful information. Perhaps Ms. Last doesn't mean for the public to have the song. |

My favorite lullaby "The Castle of Dromore" and a song I only remember a bit of"The sun's going down in the deep blue seaSusan This page has almost the same: The sun’s going down in the deep blue sea It seems to be only on one CD, Celtic Twilight 3: Lullabies, on the Hearts of Space label. |

24 Jul 03 - 10:43 AM (#989559) Subject: Lyr Add: NIGHTINGALE'S LULLABY From: GUEST,jb Here's my best guess: The sun's going down in the deep blue sea So close your eyes, go to sleep I will wrap all the milk stars around you Dream, and your dreams will come true. You can ride past the wind as a champion mare Over the moors, lighter than air Your can fly to the moon as a great white swan And back you will be before dawn. (chorus from another entry, I could only make out the "drinks the tears from your pillow" on my own. ) nightingale's lullaby blend in the wind nests in your ear, drinks the tears from your pillow, so sleep now, sweet dreams now. I may be older but I am not wise I'm still a child's grownup disguise And I never can tell you what you want to know But you will find out as you go. The sun disappears in the deep blue sea Your eyes are closed, sleep so deep The milk stars are wrapped all around you Dream and your dreams will come true. |
06 Sep 03 - 09:57 AM (#1013867) Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Nightingale's Lullaby From: GUEST,Ryuen Actually, from listening to the song and reading these suggested lyrics, I'm thinking that this is how the first two lines of the chorus go: The nightingale's lullabye flies in the window, nests in your ear, drinks the tears from your pillow In any case, many thanks to everyone on this page who gave it a shot--I've been trying to figure out the lyrics to that chorus part for at least a year now! |
06 Sep 03 - 10:00 AM (#1013870) Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Nightingale's Lullaby From: GUEST,Ryuen Oh, sorry, one more thing--I believe the line jb has as "I'm still a child's grownup disguise" is actually, "I'm still a child in this grown-up disguise." She sings those words ("in this") rather softly, but by cranking up the volume to ear-shattering level, you, too, can hear them! ^_~ |

Sleep, baby dear, Sleep without fear, Mother is here beside your pillow. I'd put my own sweet childie to sleep in a silver boat on the beautiful river, Where a shoheen whisper the white cascades, and a lulla lo the green flags shiver. Sleep, baby dear, Sleep without fear, Mother is here with you for ever. Lulla lo! to the rise and fall of mother's bosom 'tis sleep has bound you, And O, my child, what cosier nest for rosier rest could love have found you? Sleep, baby dear, Sleep without fear, Mother's two arms are clasped around you. ------------------------------------------------- found in http://www.sundown.pair.com I translated these lyrics in french, it's beautiful ! If you listen you can hear this easily. Philippe HELARD was nearly correct. I don't know how they found the lyrics on the page they posted but I didn't find anything but a list of songs. After having been in choir many many years I was able to listen and pick up the minutes words with the "the"s in there. If you've been in this for a while and have sung things like this, you know what to listen for thank god. ^^ Hope this helps. Mind you, this is the Vol. 3: Lullabies version from Celtic Twilight |
