My wife would like the lyrics to a story of Jonah put to the Drunken Sailor tune. She says the refrain is The Lord send a fish and a resurrection (3X) Early in the morning. TIA Brad http://home.earthlink.net/~bsondahl

1. We sail a ship with a man named Jonah, (3x) Early in the morning.

2. Lord, our God, have mercy on us, (3x) Early in the morning.

3. Fall on your knees, for the sea in raging, (3x) Early in the morning.

4. Who is the guilty one among us? (3x) Early in the morning.

5. Cast the lot, and the number's Jonah! (3x) Early in the morning.

6. Row, men, row to save this Jonah! (3x) Early in the morning.

7. Done, and the sea has ceased its raging. (3x) Early in the morning.

8. Lord, send a fish and a resurrection. (3x) Early in the morning.

9. What shall we do when the world is drowning? (3x) Early in the morning.

10. Lord, send a fish and a resurrection. (3x) Early in the morning.

11. Lord, our God, have mercy on us, (3x) Early in the morning.

I remember a line Between 6 and 7 "Oh, Lord God we got to drown him."

I'll have to remember this when I teach about Jonah in Bible Study. I think it's the funniest book in the Bible, certainly a very colorful Hebrew folk tale.

I keep a file of examples of biblical humor. Jonah is best, but the beginning and end of Job are also very funny. And the deuterocanonical story of Tobit being blinded by bird poop is a classic.

Jesus cited jonahs plight / don’t care if you agree / if it’s good enough for Jesus / then it’s good enough for me                     Just a few lines from one of my own songs !
