BS: Is Something Rotten at Mudcat?

From: Mickey191

I need some explanations as to what has been happening for the last 45 minutes on Mudcat. Tonight I viewed the threads, after having been off line for 5 or 6 days, and the first one which interested me was Why one shouldn't contribute to Mudcat.(Or words to that effect.) I was unable to read even the first post. My cursor was frozen, I tried everything. After 5 minutes the connection was broken, and I had to start from scratch. Which I did-with the exact same result. The 3rd time I bypassed that thread & checked out other threads with no problem. Then I went to THE accursed thread and damn if it didn't happen again. For the 4th and 5th time I was able to read everyother thread, but not the one I wanted. I've never encountered anything like this before on any site-and the subject matter has raised a few doubts in my mind. What say you? Mickey191

Mickey, I am not having any trouble getting into that despicable thread. Normally, this is a question which is better posted on the Help Forum, which you can access on the tool bar at the top.

Someone had a similar problem a few days ago and I think they were advised to empty their Temporary Internet Files and cookies, as their cache was full-up. To do that go to My Computer, to your C drive, then Windows where you will find the Cookies file and the Temp. Internet files folder.

You should probably also go to the menu bar at the top of your Internet Explorer and click on Tools, then choose Options and go in there and dump the History and Delete the Internet Files in there.

Hope that helps. Remember you will have to go to the Quick Links and reset your cookie, if you dump the Mudcat one. It's not difficult to do.

The same thing happened to my poor little webtv browser when I clicked on the thread. I was however able to finally open it.

I think the answer lies in the value for Pi.

Hi, Mickey - I see you lost your cookie. Check the FAQ for cookie reset instructions if you need them - Click here for a cookie reset.

I think I found what was causing you problems on the thread. I fixed it. I think rangeroger and I have the same idea of what was wrong.

Joe, I didn't lose my cookie, The last time my terminal cut off, it was just easier to use my original name instead of Mickey191 (secondary user). I'm still in the dark as to why this occurence at that particular site.

Mickey - if it was something Joe was able to correct in the thread - then the most likely reason is that it was an html error by someone posting to the thread- or something posted by a user that conflicted with your particular browser. Next most likely reasxon would be that it was something that caused problems during the transmission over the particular chain of routers to you.

I've seen this happen on other forums - and in guestbooks. I've also seen it take up to six months to correct - in one particular case it I know well over 100 people reported the error, that the site has a web-designer on retainer to "fix" problems - and it still took the six months for them to fix.

Hey, if it's such a rotten thread, maybe instead of BS it should be called a mud"catbox thread"!

THE COSMIC SONG

Whenever life gets you down, Mrs. Brown,
And things seem hard or tough,
And people are stupid, obnoxious or daft,
And you feel that you've had quite enough,

Just remember that you're standing on a planet that's evolving
And revolving at nine hundred miles an hour.
It's orbiting at nineteen miles a second, so it's reckoned,
'Round the sun that is the source of all our power.
Now the sun, and you and me, and all the stars that we can see,
Are moving at a million miles a day,
In the outer spiral arm, at fourteen thousand miles an hour,
Of a galaxy we call the Milky Way.

Our galaxy itself contains a hundred billion stars;
It's a hundred thousand light-years side to side;
It bulges in the middle sixteen thousand light-years thick,
But out by us it's just three thousand light-years wide.
We're thirty thousand light-years from Galactic Central Point,
We go 'round every two hundred million years;
And our galaxy itself is one of millions of billions
In this amazing and expanding universe.

Our universe itself keeps on expanding and expanding,
In all of the directions it can whiz;
As fast as it can go, that's the speed of light, you know,
Twelve million miles a minute and that's the fastest speed there is.
So remember, when you're feeling very small and insecure,
How amazingly unlikely is your birth;
And pray that there's intelligent life somewhere out in space,
'Cause there's bugger all down here on Earth!

Something's rotten all right...it's Spaw's breath! It's probably due to his possum-blowing fetish. I think something should be done about it without delay.
