I've tried the internet pages but can't find it anywhere. So if anyone can help me I'll be more than gratful for that. Tam |

Did you ever love somebody?
Did you ever love somebody?
Did you ever lay your head down?
Have you ever prayed the day would come?
And if you did,
Did you ever love somebody?
Did you ever love somebody? |

21 Apr 02 - 09:42 AM (#694817) Subject: RE: Lyr Req: did you ever by Nancy Sinatra From: Jim Dixon I think Nancy Sinatra recorded this with Lee Hazlewood, and maybe Hazlewood wrote it. I haven't found the lyrics, though. Can you quote a line from it (other than the title)? |
21 Apr 02 - 12:18 PM (#694883) Subject: RE: Lyr Req: did you ever by Nancy Sinatra From: Nigel Parsons "well how about..." "No, that would be much, harder" "Does your father know, I'll Bet"- "Oh no I haven't told him yet"-"Well I just ask you, did you ever?" - "All the time" The first two are parts of lines, The latter 2+ lines are continuous, but switching voices where the quote marks stop & re-start. Just from memory! |

21 Apr 02 - 05:43 PM (#695066) Subject: RE: Lyr Req: did you ever by Nancy Sinatra From: Lanfranc I have located a few secondhand singles, but no lyrics. I believe it was written by Lee Hazelwood, who was the alternate voice on the Nancy Sinatra record. Hope someone comes up with the lyrics, I feel a parody coming on otherwise! Alan |

In fact, a parody is made easier if the original can be seen. This gives the opportunity to re-use rhyme schemes and actual rhymes, with subtle re-workings! |
22 Apr 02 - 10:54 AM (#695567) Subject: RE: Lyr Req: did you ever by Nancy Sinatra From: C-flat I remember some of the lines; "Can I fix you one small..." "No thanks I just had one" "Well how about a nice....." "Well that would be just fine" "I've got just the thing for us....." "No, I'm afraid I'll miss my bus" "Well I just wondered, did you ever...." "All the time" Sorry I don't remember more. C-flat. |
23 Apr 02 - 10:03 AM (#696442) Subject: RE: Lyr Req: did you ever by Nancy Sinatra From: alanabit Those are the lines I remember too. It was Lee Hazelwood and Nancy Sinatra made the gags work by never quite finishing a line. I rather liked it. It must have been sometime between 1970 and 1972. "Did you ever count how many..." "Eight or nine.." is another line which springs to mind. |
