Don - according to my dictionary a gaberlunzieman (Yes all one word!) is a beggar or tramp. Paradoxically? a gaberlunzie ia a wallet!

I remember a song by the Tannerhill Weavers called "The Gaberlunzieman", heard on Prairie Home Companion in its previous incarnation (late 80s). Maybe you could check out their recordings. Best of luck!

For heaven's sake, why not check MMario's link, which explains the question? This is a duplicate thread, anyway, but unfortunately "GUEST" and Don didn't notice that, so we're stuck with it now; it will make searching for information to help people harder work in future. Gaberlunzie were a band (not very interesting, to my mind, but we all have different tastes) and that's made clear enough in the parallel thread which is linked to above, though other contributors in that thread have ignored that for reasons of their own, seemingly.
I closed this thread in an attempt to avoid splitting the discussion. Please post in one of the related threads listed in the crosslinks toward the top of this page.
Thanks.
