UK trip dick greenhaus and Susan

We liked Whitby so much in 2000 that we are coming back for 2002. Last time we came in thru London, this time it will be Glasgow so we can go to the Scottish National Folk Festival. So we are arriving in Scotland Friday Aug 9, spending the weekend at the Scots festival and going to Whitby for Aug 17-24 and flying back Mon Aug 26. We would like to meet/remeet mudcatters in Northern England and Southern Scotland during the week of Aug 12. Joe Offer and his bride, Christina, will share a cottage with us in Whitby, but will not be travelling with us the first week.

Brilliant. I'm glad the Whitby mountaneering didn't put you off making a return trip.

I'm sure now there'll be a few more Mudcatters who'll make a point of getting to Whitby this year. (And there are always a good few.)

And here is the website for Whitby Folk Week 2002 Looks to be great.

Hey, Dick and Susan!!

Before you fly off, woncha put something together just for that Mudcat Sampler CD? It sure wouldn't be a world Mudcat thing without the Founding Spirits!!

There's a thread on it over here to see what it is, and all. Apologies for the interruption -- we now return to your original thread....

Very best,

A

Dick and Susan - Oh great, it was your turning up at Graham Moore's workshop on Internet resources at Whitby 2000 that alerted me to the existence of the Mudcat Cafe, and my being escorted to the Ducks' barbecue at Whitby 2001 that accounted for my subscribing to Mudcat. And I'm going back to Whitby this year, so hope to bump into you both and Joe and Christina.

We would still like to meet a few more mudcatters in Southern Scotland and Northern England during the week between the two festivals - Aug 12 to 14 or 15. We will be in Ayr Aug 11 and with Bill Sables by the 15 or 16. You do not have to put us up, if that is awkward - just invite us to town, maybe arrange something musical, and point us to a B&B.

You can PM us or e-mail: Susan@digitrad.org or dick@digitrad.org

Hello Dick & Susan.

I met you briefly at Mystic Seaport Festival in June.

Unfortunately I am involved in a series of events down South. So I won't be able to meet you.

Have a good holiday.

Maggie and I are looking forward to seeing you in Whitby again. We usually hang around in Whitby for some of the weekend after Whitby Folk Week. It's not such a bad idea as not everyone scurries off on the Saturday.

Eric - We'll be in Whitby all that week
Les - we could stick around part of Saturday, but have to be out of our cottage
Skipper - it was real brief, I did not evan realize you were a performer or from Wales, and I did not encounter you again.
We look forward to seeing you all!

On the west coast, right on the border with Germany. Lovely little town, and loads of folk music enthusiasts. It must be the biggest British festival outside Britain! Almost a community project, there are over a thousand unpaid stewards. I'm looking forward to it!

I'm staying with Dick and Susan during Whitby Week, but traveling by myself the rest of the time (alas, my bride cannot come). I'll be staying with Micca in London August 12-16, with Bill Sables for a day before and a few days after Whitby Week, and with IanC at the end of my stay. I have a very vague understanding of UK geography and Mudcatter locations, but I hope to run into at least some of you here and there - I figure my hosts will help with that, since I haven't a clue about all this.
Thanks to everyone, especially Micca, Bill, and Ian.

We hope to see lots of you.
Linda - We were at Whitby two years ago and were sufficently odd to stand out and be constantly referred to as "our American friends" everywhere we went.
Wearing mudcat shirts or patches helps people find each other.
Joe - Micca will line up lots of London 'catters for you to meet. We stayed with him last time, but are taking the Northern route this time.

Scabby - we're flying in and out of Glasgow, but won't be there on a Wednesday. Sunday, Woodlands Road, hmm, we shouldn't - staying way out of town (I hate cities, having been born in New York) and have a plane to catch Monday morning, but more details, please...
Trevor - Hope to see you
People can check out the mudcat links box to get to member photos if you want to look for someone in particular. Dick, Joe, and I all have photos there.

Which pubs do Mudcatters hang out at? Tap and Spille - which others? Any particular time or day?

Tap & Spile is probably favourite, but almost any session is likely to throw up a few.

Another good bet would be the Endeavour, particularly the maritime sessions (see programme for times).

There are even a few catters resident in the town, spotting them could be a challenge.

Hope to meet lots of us (and US) catters over the week.

We seem to have a plan!!

We can take over "Pippins" on Tuesday, 13th, for an evening meal and music....outside if the weather is fit, indoors if not.

Who's coming? I can offer some floor space for sleeping, and I think the caravan at Pippins is available.

Look forward to seeing you,

Cheers, Bron.
