14 Apr 98 - 07:02 PM (#25799) Subject: Masters Bouquet From: Newfoundlander Once in awhile a couple of buddys and me do a few gospel songs. I remember back about 25 to 30 years ago, hearing Kitty Wells doing a song with the lyrics in it Gathering Flowers For the Masters Bouquet, Beautiful flowers that will never decay. Gathered by angels and carried away, Forever to bloom in the Masters bouquet. Would like to have this song. There were also some other songs on the album, but I can't remember the titles. Anyone know the album I'm talking about and the names of the other songs. Might stir up some good old songs. |

15 Apr 98 - 04:10 PM (#25838) Subject: Lyr/Tune Add: GATHERING FLOWERS FOR THE MASTER'S.. From: Joe Offer Gee, Gene, I wish I'd thought to look in the database before I transcribed the lyrics. Actually, Mudcat was down, so I have at least half an excuse. Anyhow, since I have a tune to add, I'll post the whole thing here Gathering Flowers for the Master’s Bouquet by Martin E. Baumgardner © Copyright, 1940, by Stamps-Baxter Music & Ptg. Co. Death is an angel sent down from above, Sent for the buds and the flowers we love; Truly ‘tis so, for in heaven’s own way Each soul is a flower in the Master’s bouquet. [chorus] Gathering flowers for the master’s bouquet, Beautiful flowers that will never decay; Gathered by angels and carried away Forever to bloom in the Master’s bouquet. Loved ones are passing each day and each hour, Passing away "as the life of a flow’r"; But ev’ry bud and each blossom some day Will bloom as a flower in the Master’s bouquet. [chorus] Let us be faithful till life’s work is done, Blooming with love till the reaper shall come; Then we’ll be gathered together for aye, Transplanted to bloom in the Master’s bouquet. [chorus] (from Albert E. Brumley’s "Book of Radio Favorites")

15 Apr 98 - 08:12 PM (#25858) Subject: RE: Masters Bouquet From: Dale Rose Maybe we need a reminder right next to this box, saying, "STOP!, have you checked the database and the forum before doing all that work? You know, it might already be there." We just always assume that since someone is asking, that it isn't. Now, I would have thought that Gathering Flowers For The Master's Bouquet would not be there, but after getting burnt any number of times, I do try to remember to check. This was one of the times that I did.
Newfoundlander did ask about the Kitty Wells album that he remembers this from. Now, that won't be in the database! (I guess it could be in the forum, though . . .) |

16 Apr 98 - 04:48 PM (#25897) Subject: RE: Masters Bouquet From: Newfoundlander I'm not sure if that's the album I was thinking about. I seem to recall that the song (How Far Is Heaven) was on it, or maybe this song was on another album. I think I know most of the lyrics, but would like to see them posted |
