19 Jun 02 - 10:00 AM (#732923) Subject: The White Rose (Cornish trad.) From: Greyeyes Does anyone have any information about the traditional Cornish song "The White Rose"? I've exhausted all my usual sources and apart from the fact that it's Cornish and traditional I can't find anything about it. I have traced a couple of CDs it has been recorded on but I'm really looking for info on the song rather than recordings. How old? Any provenance etc. |

The song is in both but niether gives a clue to it's origin. Mike credits Mervyn Vincent for the version in his book and Ian Marshall says it sounds like a composed Victorian Ballad. I'll keep looking. John |
