And a big Hau'oli La Hanau from here in the middle of the Pacific, Don. May you have many more, in health and joy. Maybe one of these days I'll catch up with you again--or you with me! (It's a little warmer here...)

Aloha,
Mark

Many thanks, LL! I don't feel 71, but then I'm not sure what 71 is supposed to feel like. I can't seem to relate to that number, yet that's what the calendar says.

I have to agree with the statement that "inside every seventy-year-old is a teen-ager wondering what in the hell happened!!???"

Don, remember this----you're only as old as the women you feel........So get out and find yourself some sweet young thing and enjoy yourself. I'd do the same thing myself, but Karen would kill me and I'm frankly not sure I can remember what to do anyway.................Happy Birthday!!!

Turns out that the family wedding and your birthday party are on subsequent days so I'll make it to the birthday do and greet you in person. question, do you prefer apple pie or tamale pie? this is a trick question so be sure you answer correctly.

And Don, when are you going to publish that memoir/biography that you've been tantalizing the list with for so long? It's a wonderful set of stories, and needs to see light of day!

Of course, we're all treating aging like it's something to be avoided. Perhaps I should readdress this and say "Don, you make 71 look great!" And for those who haven't been so lucky as to hear this man play and sing, he makes 71 SOUND great also!

Maggie ... I have to add something else, also. He told me the other day that he's learned two new songs for the upcomming hoot. And ... I know he writes volumes every day! He does indeed make 71 look good. CHEERS, Bob

Aw, shucks, folks! Ya got me blushin'!!

But thanks, all. In a thread sometime back, kat quoted actress Ruth Gordon saying ""how old would you be if you didn't know how old you are?" I may have that stitched into a sampler. I think it pretty much sums it up. I feel actually feel like I'm in my mid-twenties—except when I wake up feeling like I've been run over by a truck—and for the fact that I squeak like a collection of rusty hinges whenever I move. But what the heck? I do have a little mileage on the odometer, I guess.

Maggie, the memoir/autobio is coming along, but it's liable to be awhile yet. I've got over 100,000 words written so far, and I'm only up to the very early Sixties. I'm just letting the whole thing flow out just to get it on paper (or disk) first, then I'm going to have to do some serious editing to make the whole thing liftable. It won't be anything like an academic history. I'm trying to make something cohesive out of a collection of reminiscences, anecdotes, character sketches, adventures, triumphs, crashes into the wall, coffeehouse reviews, occasional freak shows, and commentaries and opinions. Pictures too. I may even go insane and try to include and optional CD, too, but that's all wild speculation at this point.

In the meantime, I gotta go check on this "mayor" thing. . . .???

By the way, Mike and Moose, glad you'll be there. And Moose, either's fine, but it's sure been awhile since I've had tamale pie. Yumm!
