BS: My daughter's finally getting married

It is with extreme embarrasment that I post an announcement of my daughter, Annie's impending wedding. I'm not embarrased that she's getting married, but I forgot to issue an open invitation to all you Mudcatters. The wedding is this Saturday in La Veta, Colorado.

Yep, the pick-up hippies from Pick-up the World are finally tying the knot. I should have posted this weeks ago. I was alerted to my error by reading about Frank's travels thru Colorado.

It won't be a church wedding, it'll be outdoors at a ranch outside of town. Given the drought conditions here in Colorado, I doubt that it will rain. We have 200 RSVP's so far, many of whom are musicians. And we will jam, probably through the weekend.

So if you're able to find yourself near La Veta, CO this weekend, please stop by. It's a small town, so we're not hard to find. The folks at the grocery store, (Charlie's), can direct you, or look for Jenkins in the phone book. Thanks, BlueJay

I shan't be able to make it, so tell 'em Steve sends his best. Oh, and if you're buying drinks, mine's a Guinness: get someone to drink it for me and wish the b&g a long and happy tiem together.

'Jay,

Congratulations to you and your daughter and her groom!!

I'll have a proxy Guiness too -- if you take personal responsibility for mine AND Steve's, you'll be singing like a nightingale until dawn. At least it'll sound that way to you!! :>) Warmest wishes to the couple for me!

Best regards,

A

As I said in the other thread, congrats to the young'uns! And it's great that the pickup biz is going well. I should like to be there but will have a houseful this weekend.

Great! Hope you all have a wonderful time. Same thing happened to me a year ago, and now I am a proud grandpa!

Well, thanks all. So far, there's no wildfires predicted for this part of Colorado. In fact, we just got our first real rain in six weeks yesterday. Really got dumped on. We aren't allowed to water outdoors at all this season, but somehow the deluge made the brown grass look better.

I wish you all could be here, it's going to be a real experience. With all the great friends and musicians coming in, we would love to have more.

MarkS- Well, I've got you beat. I've been a grandad for six years. In the eyes of the law, David and Annie are married by common law, since they've been together for so long. But they've never officially tied the knot, and that's what we're doing this weekend. I will tell you that being a grandad is great, especially for me. My grandson, Devon is the same age as my youngest daughter, Kristine, (six years old), so they've always been more like brother and sister, even though she's his aunt! We live in a small town, so Kristine and Devon went through pre-school and kindergarten together, and will be in the same class next year. Even though it sucks at times, life is good.

Well thanks for all of your kind wishes. Gotta gotta go. Gotta find a tie. In a town with a thousand people, you'd think someone would have a friggin' tie! Thanks, BlueJay
