I've been trying to find this song from WW1 era... Title (?) "Shoving right off for home again" Lyrics contain (...It may be Shanghai, Farewell and goodbye, Sally and Sue - don't be blue, it may not be for years and years and then, shoving right of for home again." My Dad (ex navy) used to sing this song in the late 1930s. Thank you for your help, Fred

This song, "Over the seas let's go men" is included at the end of an "Extra" on the DVD of "Thank Your Lucky Stars." That "Extra" is entitled, "Three Cheers for the Girls," and the song is sung by Dick Powell, in a navy uniform, along with a chorus of men in navy uniforms.

The line, "shovin right off for home" was sung repeatedly in some cartoon I watched 50 years ago - Bugs Bunny? Daffy Duck? I think the character was swabbing the deck at the time.

Been looking for this song, also. My mom sang it and gave me the name Sally because her name was Sue. She must have seen the movie,
"The Singing Marine." With Dick Powell singing it. 1937 Movie. So glad I found the song. Also was sung in the cartoon, "Conrad the Sailor."
