19 Aug 02 - 06:33 PM (#768165) Subject: STAGEFRIGHT: Recording 'live' CD 20/08/2 From: aussiebloke A 3rd National Folk Week event, at Government House - Darwin - NT - Australia. 36 Darwin community musicians are scheduled to perform 7pm - 9pm on Tuesday 20th August 2002 - the concert will be recorded, with the intention of producing a nationally released CD. As music historians on this evening we preserve the music of members of the Top End Folk Club, which has been musically active in Darwin for over thirty years; as well as the music of the Sunshine Club Music of Old Darwin Town, from the 1950's. Preservation of this particular music pays tribute to Senior Darwin Songmen from the Sunshine Club - Parap Camp, Jaffa Ahmat, and Val McGinness, and has over recent years emerged from the backyards of Darwin, via and through the Mills family, Top End Folk Club members, music historian Jeff Corfield, with documentation of music by Tony Suttor.
