He would like to get some contacts around Seatle Wa. Jim is a young man who is blind and finds it difficult to attend Folk venues due to transportation limitations. Tell your friend that there is a young man active in the Kentucky Folk Scene who is blind, plays guitar and may have some advice for attending various functions. Lots of resources and contacts HERE. For someone interested in sea chanteys and sea lore, the Center for Wooden Boats might be a good place to check (clicky). A lot of chantey-singing goes on there during the Northwest Folklife Festivals and the Wooden Boat Festivals. I think there are people in both these organizations that could give good advice and point directions. Don Firth |
